Nice one. Worth it for the Qatar shot alone.
Shame about the weather Scotty.
Cheers Scotty. PM me your email and I’ll send you a map and some tips. I have to thank Eddy (civilspotter) for his help. I nagged him and mythered him on where he took his photos from for his trip in 2010 – his guides were invaluable. How about some more schemers !..

and here are three of them waiting in the queue for runway 01 departure !

On the other side of the Terminal 3 approach road you can get shots of aircraft waiting to take off on runway 36R…

At a viewing park near 36R (20 min walk from T3) here is a shot of Air China aircraft queuing up for take off and a very lucky catch with the Sichuan A330 as this was practically the only T3 stand where we could get a reasonable shot of it as it pulled back…

I have lots more photos to share yet and we only spent two days there – the first day was foggy so we went into Beijing.
A couple of Dreamliners made an appearance. Both of these taxiing out towards runway 01…

Some European heavies of the Airbus variety…

Cheers folks. These are taken at the approach to runway 01 which is one of three parallel runways at Beijing. Some Chinese exotica….

More to follow…
Fantastic photos. TC-JAV Turkish DC-10 was the one that crashed in Paris.
Yep great variety there Neil – good shots. Looks like a great photo spot as well.
It’s a strangely beautiful and understated livery which the camera can’t do justice and you really need to see in reality to fully appreciate.
I agree. It’s a great scheme. The silver one is nice too and the white scheme looks even better on a wingleted 737.
Cheers Keith. longshot, not sure about the altitude of the airport but we had to crouch down to avoid winglets and wings to get shots of taxiing traffic. The place was heaving with B747-400s, A340s, B777s etc. Hardly a free stand. The cargo was amazing but we missed most of it.
Cheers. Here are the photos taken airside…

Our plane to Beijing arrives…
Cheers for looking !
Great stuff Matt. Shame about light for the Aeromexico. I didn’t know Emirates Skycargo went into Heathrow. The LOT 787 is also coming in at end December.
Great shots as always. Heathrow can be frustrating with the light but when the light is good the place is unbeatable for photos. One of the world’s greatest airports.
Cheers Matt. Touchy subject ! It’s Shunfeng Airlines. We didn’t get a photo of it on the trip. They have just bought 737Fs as well and they go in Hong Kong but we didn’t see it there either. 🙁
Great stuff ! I saw it in Palma in September and it didn’t look like it needed a re-spray. Lovely shots. Hee hee has Keith missed this one ? !
Superb shots Matt. Love the Jodrell Bank Emirates shot. Monarch A321 cool with the Monarch logo on the hangar – good timing.
