Thank you Planemike and longshot for your suggestions.

Right now I’m in negotiation with David Jackson (AJJ Collecton) to get a few of his very interesting images of Alitalia planes (the available budget is ridicously low, though…). And many photographers of ABPic have already contributed to my project with a series of great photos.

I started contributing with news and photos to the GAVS forum myself, and I have still to get a in contact with the photographers who made those I-LINA and I-DIMI shots.

Thanks for your help – I will keep you posted anyway!

OK, after six months of work here is an update:

Thanks to the help of almost 80 spotters and photographers throughout the world, we have managed to gather 2358 images of 503 Alitalia planes out of 527 and of 188 Alitalia Group planes (that is satellite companies like SAM, ATI, Aermediterranea, Eurofly, Avianova, etc.) out of 295.

Right now we are facing the hardest part of our project: the search of the most difficult images. For instance, this is the list of Alitalia planes that we are still missing:

    • Douglas DC-3 I-LEON
    • Douglas DC-3 I-LICE
    • Douglas DC-3 I-LINA
    • Douglas DC-3 I-LONA
    • Douglas DC-3 I-LORD
    • Douglas DC-3 I-LUNA
    • Douglas DC-3 I-NEBB
    • Douglas DC-4 D-ACAB (with Alitalia livery or sticker)
    • Douglas DC-4 D-ADAR (with Alitalia livery or sticker)
    • Douglas DC-6 F-BGSN (with Alitalia livery or sticker)
    • Douglas DC-6 F-BIAM (with Alitalia livery or sticker)
    • Douglas DC-6 I-DIMC
    • Douglas DC-6 I-DIMI
    • Douglas DC-6 PH-DFK (with Alitalia livery or sticker)
    • Douglas DC-8 I-DIWD
    • Fiat G12 I-DALC
    • Fiat G12 I-DALD
    • Fiat G12 I-DALF
    • Fiat G12 I-DALG
    • Fiat G12 I-DALI
    • Sud Aviation Caravelle I-DABL (with Alitalia livery, not SAM)
    • Sud Aviation Caravelle I-DABV (with Alitalia livery, not SAM)
    • Vickers Viscount I-LAKE

The full list of Alitalia planes can be found here:

And the list of missing Alitalia Group planes (highlighted in red) can be found on this webpage:

    http://www.cartabianca.com/az_group.html

Again, if anybody thinks to have any of these photos left for decades in a drawer, or if may suggest where to look for them, we would be extremely grateful!

    Thanks for your help

    Diego Meozzi
