That colour scheme makes me think of Farnborough. That’s where I took this photo sometime in 1990s.
Some got significantly lower.
No smoke without fire, especially if you add fuel to it.

There are two noses in your photo, but I presume you meant the Cometous, not the Victorious? Speaking of the latter…
