looks like a shackleton tyre?
ok got my first stamp marking, its on the circular (fuel cap piece?) I fear it wont be any help as it may be a universal component? 🙁
very very tiny and hard to see, I think it reads V (may be a scratch) AB with a small capital “L” beside the B not inline with it but hovering above the top half of the B for some reason so thats “V?AB L” and underneath it it has “0P329” hopefully it isint a universal piece.
cool thanks for the info, well I got a scourer and a dishwasher sponge thing with the green tough bit, with a bit of water on it scrubbing the piece has shown me the whole thing is pure black not just parts of it! no serials whatsoever (yet?) and the scourers isint even taking off the paint (that is some tough paint)
If anyones interested in a previous find which has plenty of serials etc, someone told me its a pneumatic valve from a spitfire for the gun cannon. It has a visable dataplate but unfortunatly its worn away so I cant read it. some pics:
And some other random unknown bits and bobs I dugup at the same area:
Surprisingly little corrosion showing, considering how long it may have been in the Briny. Nice find though, Low Tide, or High Tide find?.
Jim.
Lincoln .7
I scour the same coastal area so it definatly wasn’t there last time I was. it was kinda lodged in the stones which may have stopped it being washed back in the sea. it was right beside the edge of the water. Hard to explain cos the beach area is a shingle and there isint really a low and high tide, will check for serial numbers tomorrow to see if I can find any.
Hi there,
Looking at my copy of Section 33C of AP1086 (2nd edition dated 23rd October 1957) 33C/288 (superceeded by 33C/9424963) is listed as Flux, soldering, fluid 1/2pint bottles to spec DTD81
Hope that helps

Dave

heres a video I took:
Hi all, new here. Im from lossiemouth but not originally
Just come across this forum as Im after searching for world war 2 relics, mainly ones that are underground. Beside Lossie beach I have found quite a few pieces of aircraft and a prewar ship components, few pics here:
few things I really need help identifying what they are:
morse code tapper from a Lancaster? not sure what the other two bits are, the long object had a matching side which I found also but its too rusted to fix up

from a naval ship prewar times apparently:
pics to show comparison of size of the bigger shell casings ive found: Need help in identifying every single one

world war 2 ammo found (all used up and inert) the little pistol shell says .44 or something, I think its from a sten or some ww2 handgun, 303 round too and Im not sure what the other ones are. I only kept the little pistol casing and the 303 shell and put back the bulletpoints as im suspicious some of them are too modern and may be MOD property.

anyone know what this is? ive been curious for ages wondering what this thing was used for. The V shape thing reminds me of ww2 bomber aid in some dambusters film I watched where the bomber held out a V shape tool to guide the bombs or something?
