thanks for the info WV-903 I should of picked up that tyre as I cant find it on the beach now, it was found directly inline the runway approach to where a ww2 naval airfield was once active
no beach scouring today but I did some digging in the dump I usually dig at, trying to find the RAF parts and I found this, on another forum someone reckons its a pilots rebreather bag for high altitudes, can anyone on here confirm this? it says “not guarenteed….” and some serial number below that:
Got this piece washed up which ive had for ages but not photographed it exept 1 photo maybe, I inspected it again recently and found quite a few stamps/part numbers? on it, strange I missed them the first time round, would like to know what aircraft its from if anyone has a clue? washed up from the same beach as the wellington etc but much further away than those parts: stamps are kinda tricky to make out exactly what it says on them I see:
4
H?294 or 4294
C 105(9/S/8)?3
CHECK or CHFCX
there is another letter that is faint on the last one, probably “check” but ive never seen aircraft parts with check written on them as a stamp,
brass riveted piece
recently washed up:
nvm I emailed avimo directly and they told me its off a nimrod
I have a halifax aircraft panel with a surprising amount of serials and stamps on it 🙁
why would you want to chuck any of these parts in the sea/water??
I have a similar one with the writing:
“AVIMO TAUNTON”
“No 6A / N(or H)14844”
“Ser no 208/75”
“F14 / 150 / 27”
no idea what is off though.
Whitley P,i have just bought a 90kg box of bits, can you identify anything,is it of help ?
can u post closeup shot of that curved pipe in the 3rd picture? I have the same piece that got washed up here that is in my collection, it should have a serial number on it
anyone recognise what this is? is it aircraft related? recently washed up same place
recently washed up
Brattacas, post 61 is an exhaust stack, the two holes are where it bolts to the head, the grooved bit in the other end is likely to be an asbestos type seal that would have gone inside the next portion of the exhaust to form a slip joint to allow for heat expansion
what page is that on? can you quote it? post 61 to me just leads me to a post I made with a youtube link showing no relics
storm with heavy winds recently so new stuff has been washed up, milltown coast where the batterys are I found this washed up, is it an aircraft rudder or flap?
its about a foot long
found this today along with 2 other pieces with stamps on them, this piece in particular has about 8 stamp/serials on it and a red “ON OFF” lettering too, wonder what its for and off of, can only post one photo on this site now for some reason
dallachy I think, have you seen these bunkers I am referring to? I had no idea they existed til today, the forest are appears to have been cut down revealing them and across the road even more, and accommodation blocks too and lots of underground pits. some of the bomb storage bunkers still have relics in them, quite an interesting place. took too many pics so need to sort out the best ones,
ps I counted around 12 of these bunkers (not including the other ones)
