Good shots, as always, there matey!!

I really like the Monarch livery. Just need to get used to the spotty M on the fuselage… just seems out of place. Would you agree?

Thanks guys… I was pleased with the results – partly as I was in a good location to practice some panning. It’s much harder than it looks!! Some shots came out really well :p Having very little feeling in my fingers (because of the cold!) didn’t help much either 😎

    Calling MAN photographers 🙂

Anyone going to at MAN on the 16th Dec to capture the A330 arriving from LGW? As it will have 100 enthusiasts (including me) on it I think it would be very well received!

Glad for the information, you can see the looks from the crew as I get on the ‘Shuttle’ clutching a paint splattered step ladder :dev2:

I will let you know when I fly up!

Maybe Rab, we’re going the same way as Peru – two seasons. It rains for 6 months then stops raining for 6 months lol. Will I be able to shoot over or through the fence without the use of a step ladder and is ‘The Mound’ easy to locate when you get to the Loganair hanger. Thanks for answering all my questions :diablo:

    Thanks Rab,

I will fly up and have a walk around in the Spring I think. I found the Loganair hanger on Google Maps, but couldn’t locate where to find ‘the mound’ – it could be one of several places! Is the location at the opposite end of the runway good for taking photos – or is there a many restrictions such as fences and pillars?

Thanks for all your help and kind offer, it’s very much appreciated 🙂

Cracking shots there Rab! Really like the light on the Thomson Airways 🙂

I am hoping to come to GLA soon, and I recall there was a website with all the spotting/photography locations. However, I can’t seem to see it now. Can you point me to some good spots, bearing in mind I’ll be without a car?

    Many thanks in advance 🙂

    Happy New Year!

“To infinity and beyond …. ” :diablo:

    Things I should try then…

    1) Set camera to infinity and use an aperture of at least f8.0

    2) Use AF, but use Tv mode setting and use a shutter speed higher than your zoom. eg 300mm use 1/400

    3) Try shooting with ISO 200 to get slightly sharper images when aircraft moving fast.

    Any others to add?

ps Moggy, I’m gonna go with 10, 11 and 17 from you list!!! ( I have no idea about the focal length thing!)

    Hi guys!

Well, I wasn’t expecting this kind of response!! lol

Being a bit of a novice, I am learning as I go along. My question is (all be it very simple)… How do I select the focus to infinity? !!

Would setting a higher shutter speed eg 1/800 at 300mm produce a sharper pic??

    Thanks!!

    🙂
