Many people here are talking about buying a digital SLR, I agree that you can get get the best quality shots and none to very little shutter lag. A DSLR can be expanded with more lenses and flasguns and generally is the best photographic option. But unles you are only buying a camera to go to airshows think about the following, are you really going to wield a heavy bag of equipment around when you go on holiday?
A prosumer compact like the Nikon 8800 has 8 megapixels a 10X zoom and vibration reduction, only thing it is much slower than a DSLR.
I have two classic SLR and five lenses going from 28 to 400 mm but after I bought my first digi compact (I always take RAWs) I almost only use that exept for special occasions that demand more power. More I now almost never leave home without except to go to work…
I only missed a longer zoom so I just bought the Nikon. Anyway I prefer detailed shots over in flight shots but that long zoom can get me closer now.
Thats not to say that I did not want a DSLR but my back hurts a lot less since I do not have to logg 15kg of equipment with me. And yes really fast action shots are the realm of the DSLR. I know I took a Fuji S2 on a three day assignment from work…i loved it to bits.
So there is just that bit more to consider…
Hi Rocketeer
Whenever you got something special to share on TSR 2 then I am always interested, specially in something so rare as a Head down display…
Cheers

Robbo,
I looked into Photobucket and it seems a free account has 25mb storage with a maximum bandwith 1.5MB. Now I wonder if that bandwith would be enough with a popular walkaround?
Now I do not have any experience in linking a large photo album to another site. Normally I use the combination Dreamweaver Fireworks to automatically create the actual album. Would that be possible with the photographs on Photobucket?

Robbo I might take you up on your offer! If I do I will of course credit these to you! The Hawk 75 is something out of the ordinary… specially in French colours!
Unfortunately I have to cross the channel to take those photograhs and I can only manage that once or twice a year. However I have more walkarounds waiting to be processed. I think many of you will have beaten me to it but the next one will be of the Bell P39-Q6 Airacobra took some 250 photographs from that one….
You take some great photographs Robbo! I personally like the Hawk 75 photographs alot, unfortunately I could not get some good photographs of the nose of the Hawk due to it being parked to close to the hangar doors…
Ok here you go http://users.pandora.be/Aircraftwalkarounds/introduction.html
I am currently working on the Hawk walkaround and hope to have between 160 and 180 left when I finish processing. Unfortunately due to limited webspace I have to keep everything small even when I take them at full quality raw files.
I hope you enjoy them! Here are some more…
If there is interest in them I will put up my photographs of the Hawk 75 on my website. I took some 2OO in April including the interior of the fuselage, cockpit interior and wheel wells. Might take some weeks before they are processed.
Here are some examples!
