I must admit that I am surprised not by the attacks (we all knew they were pretty much inevitable) but by how few people they managed to kill/hurt. Presumably that was their aim so I have to say I believe that our security was the reason that no more people were affected. I’m sure they would have loved to fly an aeroplane into Canary Warf but security in this is country is at the level where that would have been hugely difficult.

My thoughts are with the families of those affected but I am just relieved that the day we always knew would come wasn’t worse. I imagined it would be.

I was in London on Wednesday and was supposed to be on Friday. I had to cancel because the police were telling people to stay away but I shall be there on Monday – it’s gonna take more than Thursdays blasts to keep me away from our beautiful capital. I think that is the best way to show them we will not be beaten – keep going about our normal daily business.

You are very lucky – I had to pay for mine myself!

Can’t advise as not from the area but I would just say that the poshest, ponciest places aren’t always the best places to learn.

I must admit it has never entered my head whilst driving! Had two go off in an accident – think they probably saved me from serious injuries.

I think it’s a shame that F1 is so driven by money these days. The Americans have never really embraced the sport because they have their own equivalent in Indys. The only reason we went back 6 years ago was due to finances. Hopefully this event has shown the FIA that they should give up on America once and for all.

McLaren had 4 consecutive titles, Ferrari have 6.

But you forget that McLaren won the championship in 84, 85, 86, 88, 89, 90, 91. I think they won both titles on most occasions (except maybe 86 if my memory serves correctly). The eighties was an era of absolute McLaren domination however you look at it. I don’t have a problem with that – success is usually earned.

Thing that bothers me is that in those days we didn’t complain about it – just sat patiently week in week waiting for something better. When Ferrari put themselves in a similar position everybody complained like mad. Even at the height of the red team’s success – say in 2002 – they were still only just at the level that McLaren enjoyed for many years. The 80s were the days when McLaren won 15 out 16 races and we considered it the norm. Nobody brought in regulations to slow them down!

You can’t blame Ferrari for their success – you should instead look to the competition and ask yourself why they have struggled for so long to challenge Ferrari.

Conversely, I have a very long memory although I suspect it’s fading with age. Ferrari had a terrible period of, I believe, around 20 years when they won nothing. I’m no Ferrari fan but they are a huge name in motor(sport) and successive failure, or lack of success if you prefer, for that long isn’t good for F1.

The FIA and Ecclestone bent over backwards to make sure they won a few years back.

The last few years have destroyed Formula 1 for everybody except diehard Ferrari fans. Everybody I know that used to watch it had given up until the start of this season. One in particular used to travel to several European races and had done for many years. He doesn’t even go to Silverstone now. He did the same as me, switch the telly on and watch the start, if Schumacher’s (or either Ferrari) in front at the end of the first lap, switch it off.

do you forget the endless years of mclaren domination?

You definitely don’t have the finish the race to score points – I well remember Monaco 1996, when Olivier Panis won the race, there were only four finishers. Salo and Hakkinen retired several laps before the end, but still scored points.

I suspect it might be that you have to complete a certain percentage of the leader’s laps to score?

I believe it is 90% in order to be classified – whether that is in a points position or not is irrelevant.

You must remember that the Ferrari Supporters Club, or FIA to give them their official title, is run by Max Mosley who is showing signs of having no brain.

I find the Ferrari bashing these days very funny – people have very short memories.
