great photos, a real treat for a Hunter fan like myself 😀
Fleming?
Waghorn 41, quite possibly we do know each other. 91-95, crewman, big nose and a bit of a spotter. PM to reveal my identity 🙂 Post those pics!
No, we won’t know each other as I was at Kai Tak 1975-7 :). I was an aircraft engine mech with some flying ‘duties’. I’m in the process of scanning all my negs of Kai Tak and putting the better ones, civil and military, on the forums here. Now to find those 28 Squadron photos…
BMD – Births, Marriages, Deaths
records held by the GRO – General Records Office.
Most main libraries hold copies of these records on microfiche.
seafuryfan – I see some of those were from the left seat ! and most during the latter era in Sek Kong. Question is were you at Kai Tak and do I know you?
I’ve got a bunch of air-air from the left seat when I can find the negs.
Aaaaaaaaah nostalgia ! Loved the Goons and the Telegoons TV series 🙂

Just a small display but signposted from the road, off the B1122 Bexwell Road on the right as you head towards Stradsett.
I assume as he is RAFVR that we’re talking second world war but he doesn’t appear on the list of 137 squadron pilots for the period, see link

can you be more specific as to where your information came from and the year/s in question?
The RAF does give you excellent training but beware – it doesn’t translate into a ‘civil’ qualification/license! That you will have to do off your own back; unfortunately I couldn’t afford the courses when I left the RAF so had to leave my passion and take a ‘normal’ job.
I did get an interview with one company, based at Cranfield then, and was shown an engineering drawing of a wing of a light aircraft they were working on. When asked to identify a particular section of the structure on trestles by the interviewer who stabbed his finger at an area on the drawing I happily obliged, no problem. Well there was, I got it right but it took him a few minutes of discussion to realise I was. Obviously I didn’t get the job 🙂
In the end I was able to enjoy old aircraft as a hobby by helping out with a local aviation group, static airframes only though.
Remember that if you join the services that you are committing yourself for a minimum term and a lot can happen in that time.
I wish you the very best of luck, just wish I’d had the opportunity.
Hi David
Might be worth trying here, they have a forum which may have someone who can help – in fact I’m sure someone there can.

I’m fairly sure I’ve got a CAAC Trident lurking but they were rare visitors but DC8s, Convairs, Caravelles, 707s and the ‘new’ DC10 and Tristars and, not sure if I captured them on film, Air America C46s 😀
How about some CAAC Trident’s….:D
Quite possibly but it will take me a while to sort through the ton of negs I’ve got!
ooops, have to forgive a newbie – just seen that there’s a Naval section for stuff like this. Can a mod please move it to where it belongs?
Welcome to the forum sir. A great shot, I do hope we’re going to see some more:)
Well I spent 2 years living on the airfield with a great view from my room across the airport so I photographed nearly everything that passed through. Anything you’re particularly interested in?
