Let’s hope that don’t send the engine away to the same people as the uk based example! That’s been awaiting its engine for about 5 years!

    Good luck to them!

Its more like 15 years isn’t it?

That poor project has had so many false starts and claims over the years. Remains to be seen now if it will actually get finished this time. Lets hope so!

I know its a pile of bits but those bits looked in good nick. I wonder how much it sold for out of interest. Anyone know?

I will throw in on a positive note for the air & space museum in San Diego Ca. I asked a question or two on one of the exhibits and next thing i know I am getting a private tour of thier restoration facility downstairs!! and it wasnt a 10 minute run through either, i bet i was down there for a solid hr! If anyone who works there reads this once again I thank you all. JT

No its an English thing, I can’t imagine ever meeting a miserable beggar in the US.

Its the Anglo Saxon work ethic, its hard to remember that you have volunteered yourself for some work.

Ever been to a French bootfair? their old tat is hideously expensive but nobody buys anything! I could never work out why they bothered.

Would it be a good thing? Does it need to? Once its airworthy nobody will be able to get near it, I can’t see the taxi rides still taking place.

A B24 Liberator crashed over the road [20 feet!] from where I used to live in Capel St Mary , Apparently I think it was in trouble and most of the crew bailed out as the pilot reckoned he wouldn’t make Raydon airfield, not sure if he got out. They had to get the engines out in the 80′ or 90’s before building two detached houses on the site. The story goes that the engines and a lot of fuel were taken out and the engines were given to a museum further north in East Anglia, needless to say the engines have vanished.

I have an article out of flypast that announced OFMC were planning on moving to an airfield in France, glad that never happened

Was that to get rid of the CAA off their backs I wonder? Mind you its not the normal run of events for the French to be less officous but I think they are as they allow Sea Furies to fly with a more reliable engine.

Great work, a good case for a BBMF Hurricane repaint perhaps?
