The Typhoon and Tempest fuselage are compatible but the Sea Fury has a different shape to the cross section of the formers to allow for the raised cockpit.

My other anorak being narrow gauge railways I can shed a little bit of light on the Baldwin 4-6-0 loco.
There were two of these rescued from an Indian sugar mill named Lion and Tiger.Lion went to Amberely chalk pits museum and Tiger was at Duxford for a period.
I am not sure why the idea of a railway at Duxford was abandoned.
It was very much a case of thinking that out of the 495 locos built in [six months!] non survived until these turned up, which are a well known type as they operated on some of the famous narrow gauge lines in the UK and in that respect are quite Iconic.
They had a reputation for rough riding but since the restoration and operation of the ‘Duxford’ Baldwin that has finally been repudiated and was no doubt the result of rough track on the western front.

My initial thought also was typhoon [ hopefully] but those rounded corner gun access panels are the major clue in my opinion. [ a bit un-british perhaps?]

Just think, a great mass of the British public get their ideas about how to live and think from the media.

Looking at the comments with interest, I wonder if the fact that if one looked hard enough there may be a 100 [ for example, I don’t know the figure!] Dorniers suitable for rescuing from the sea, I wonder if that would change the viewpoint on wether to display as is or restore?

I got there at 08.25 on Sunday and no problems, I haven’t missed a show at Dux this year but I always get there early to get into the car park over the road otherwise you end up having to go miles down the road to then turn around to get on the M11/or head east if you park on the land warfare side as you get forced to turn left on exit there.
I did note the stalls seemed cleared out after a good saturday!
I recommend also about 13.30 to get yourself near the fence for an uninterupted view before the flying starts at 2.00. Mind you I was at the middle gate [ west of the control tower] and started to regret it as vehicles on the flight line started to park up to my right blocking the view a bit!
At last I have seen four Hurricanes in the air!

TFC advertising a mystery P-51 that has never been to Legends to appear. Any idea which? Marinell????

I don,t think it will be Marinell, what we don’t know of course is what the criteria is to be invited, maybe it’s a bit chummy or political who knows?

Yes It’s a great shame about the Wyvern and I feel Wyvernfan’s frustration and sense of loss.
I can’t help noticing in the last of couple of years how many German aircraft are coming out of the sea, if it’s not a FW190 it’s a BF109 and yes the sea!
    Complete with paintwork.
So when do we start fishing out our aircraft? Did any Wyverns finish up in the drink?

    Thanks for the replies.

How many of the airframes in the global queue require a similar powerplant and how many of these projects would have one allocated would you guess?

    Isn’t there a MK12 somewhere too?

No unfortunately there isn’t a MK 12 anywhere, we all thought that EN224 was a survivor but it was a hoax.
Still this aircraft is as close to one as you could get.

It may not be insured for a total replacement if lost, as I read somewhere that owners of valuable aircraft opt for insurance covering everything else as the premiums for total replacement is approching nearly the same as the cost of the rebuild/ replication.
