I was expecting to see one at Manchester, it would be a perfect accompaniment to the Concorde, Nimrod, Trident, 146, ATP et al

Corsairs to Brigands
With the amount of Bio/Chem and potentially Nuclear weaponry in the area, if someone so much as farts in the wrong direction, everything in the peninsular will end up with a ‘Primitive’ classification, not just doctrines and armed forces

This looks like it is as much about Identity / Brand / Copyright Protection as anything else. The MoD is taking ownership of pretty much every product they can which is associated with anything marketable. This is not a defence or a justification, unfortunately it is just modern life and Whitehall will see it as a way of generating additional funds themselves, via an income which they previously did not have any control over.
Dunno what happened with my last one, it was a screen capture from Thunderball showing the Fulton equipped B17 snatching Bond and whatsherface from the sea LOL!
Anyway, a jet conversion of a piston engined airframe, with bonus added jets…

I think there is reference to this in Leo McKinstry’s Spitfire book (although it may be another similar tome) and the key here is ‘Inspired’ not copied. If I recall properly, R-R bought one D-12 (shipped it back in first class cabin I think?) and gave it a thorough going over. Subsequent engines were apparently influenced by some design features.
