Where did they come from? What is their history?

NC15521, NC15524, NC15525 and NC15527 were imported as one big rediscovered cache from the US in 2007. Have not been flown in ages.

I assume that the Y.150S in the photo is PH-APY which crashed at Schipol on 23 January 1938. But can you please elaborate on your statement that there are four of them in a hangar near to you. I suspect that there’s an interesting story behind the statement, Eric.

This is that ‘crash’, a heavy landing put a couple of wrinkles in the booms and damaged two gear legs. It was up and flying again in some weeks and was sold to the RAF in 1939 (they flew it up to 1942 but whatever became of it is shrouded in mystery…).

There’s a bunch of them in a hangar at Lelystad. One is to fly, one for display, one for spares, and one is apparently paperwork and a dataplate only. The first two are substantially complete.

Actually the Dutch Y150S buit that’s close enough for me. Your turn.

As a BTW: there’s four of them sitting in a nearby hangar here. Can’t be many places where there’s that many about!

Pfew: nearly ran out of glue clamps there… Fin skins are on after a late-night marathon glueing session… Fingers crossed for the results. Detail: the custom-built glueclamps for stretching the skin over the fin. Very effective.

    Hi Dave,

No I haven’t actually. I seem to be the last person on the planet who is not on Facebook. No time for most of the social media when the workshop is full… 😉

Impressed by the quality of the tech drawings of the CofG mod: nice job there!

Fuselage neck finished after a lot of replacing cross-structure underneath, with a new plywood-top on it. New CofG release structure nearly complete as well, waiting for the new release now to mount it all and recover the gaping holes in the bottom of the fuselage.
