Have you tried this?
That was not a touch and go.
That was a hit and run.
Hi Tony, no I didn’t, but have sent you an e-mail!
Well, lots of minor work later (rudder now finished with some minor repairs, dismantled lots of small parts in the fuselage, fixed a couple of club gliders in between, etc.), and we’ve started surveying the wings. Starboard wing was up for inspection yesterday. Some small loose glue joints, mainly in gusset plates, nothing spectacular. Wellll, at least not behing the main spar. D-nose is a goner, unfortunately. Needs a complete re-ply due to water ingress while in storage, and some ribs look beyond saving. Spar seems OK, but the aileron spar’s outer 50 cm needs replacement as well. We’re looking into obtaining a spare wing with some trailing edge and rib damage to speed up progress… And are aiming at Ascension Day to complete the survey and start the serious work…
On the bright side, we’ve almost managed to obtain a set of spare skids from the UK, and brandnew rubber doughnuts from Belgium.
VP-K.. is Kenyan marks before the allocation of the 5Y-batch. VP-C.. is indeed the Caymans. Most early Kenyan aircraft carried VP-K.. registrations that were often transferred straight to 5Y-marks using the same last three letters. I came across this looking for old DHC-2 registrations once.
Ah, that would explain why everybody in his right mind was keeping a healthy distance from that Finnish table at the International Evening in 2009…
Dave, Think that’s bad? We have them of FB involved in lots of beer and pizza while celebrating the purchase of an Astir (Glassfibre! Blasfemy! And Broken too!). Then again, thinking of it, he may have the same pics of us at the same bar celebrating the purchase of a T.21 (true: wood, but also very broken)….
Your keyboard seems to have a stuck exclamation mark. Just thought I’d mention this to you.

Easily. Even a winch is lighter than Skylark’s wingtips.
That’s the one. I helped apply the temporary stickers 😉
Hell yeah!!!!!
Is there P51 up and running yet?
I think you mean the Swedish P-51 that was in Duke of Brabant’s care for some time until a few years ago. It was initially painted in Swedish AF c/s, later in Dutch East Indies c/s. It was never theirs, just operated by them on behalf of the Swedish owner.
Don’t forget to check the AD’s. There’s a new (P)AD for them out some weeks ago.
Don’t know what the dimensions are, but could this be a spoiler (airbrake) for a (transport) glider?
Correct John. It is looking so much better now than before the restoration:
