Could you tell me which parts of the global security stuff are outdated, I am sure that I have read that the side looking radar arrays have been cancelled, and I have not heard or seen anything about stealthy weapons pods for some time?
Thats what I have read too, at least if I remember correctly. afaik, stealth pods were never considered officially. As the line is going to close in 2010 under current plans, all the post 2010 Blocks are not more than suggestions at the moment.
While the F-22 has some nice strike features and is going to officialy replace the F-117, it cannot do everything the Nighthawk does. 2000lb LGBs are the weapon of choice for hardened targets. The Raptor can neither carry nor self-designate those.
F-35 will be the real F-117 replacement.
Jackonicko, the Globalsecurity stuff you posted looks vastly outdated…
Internal AAM load currently is 6 AMRAAMs and 2 M Sidewinders, the X model isnt integrated yet. I dont think 4 Sidewinders of any modell will fit.
Stand-off weapons could always be carried on external hardpoints, with 300km+ range, stealth shouldnt be an issue.
I too think the F-22 is a good A/G platform for strikes at known fixed targets with. Its certainly no CAS airplane.
Oh, and you forgot the gun. 😀
I’d take this figures with a grain of salt. They look rather optimistic, similar to the proposed F-15N weight estimates by McDD. Esp. when compared to the Rafale C/M, where the difference is about 500kg.
Probably, this would have turned the F-18 into another F-16 where you need several stuctural upgrades to keep the fleet going over its lifetime. 😀
Well, they were roped off. What more could you think of? 😀
Im surprised though the Prowler isnt secured in any way.
Nice pics btw, not bad for an amateur. 🙂
Re the T-6: I hear its quite a sporty ride, at least in its PC-9 form. 🙂
Thanks for the excellent info. 🙂
I wonder though if the double rack makes sense now since the Rafale F2 is in service finally.
btw, BANG/CBEMS stands for “Bombe Aeronvale de Nouvelle Generation / Corps de Bombe a Effets Multiples Securise” 🙂
Do it.
I dont really feel like painting around. 😉
Besides, how could you tell I didnt use PS? 😀
I could make a better PSed pic of a Raptor and a J-10 in MS paint:D
The Eagles are probably deployed to Misawa as long as the Raptors are in Kadena to reduce noise levels there. At least thats what my memory tells me. 🙂
Good pics btw. 🙂
Its a shame how those CFTs destroy the graceful lines of the “Ching-kuo Imposing Eagle”.
And it looks like it is about to tip over any moment.
Happy birthday! Must be nice to shake hands with Chuck Yeager. 🙂
though I’d rather take a shower with the girls if I think about it. 😀
In the last pic, the Rafale is loaded with six CBEMS-BANG 125kg bombs.
But isnt the CBEMS-BANG basically a Mk81 or Mk82 with paveway kit? Why not just call it Paveway? The French… 😀
If there were any serious trouble in the Falklands (thats a big if), the Brits could just ask the Americans, and maybe the Italian and Spanish as well, for some APG-65 equipped Harrier II+.
From currently published figures this goal will be missed, when we focus on pure dogfight performance criteria (acceleration, turn rate). But as I said: If it is not needed or required, it is idiotic to design it this way. The US armed forces only get an aircraft as good as they define it, and in my opinion that is one of the primary reasons for sobering results of some designs. The American aircraft industry is the most capable and can deliver nearly everything, and that for acceptable costs (relative to the economical power of the country) and in acceptable time frames. Some aircraft suffered from contradicting requirements, and sometimes illusions about technical capability.
Maybe, maybe not. Weight and thrust are subject to change.
And theres no point comparing a clean 4th gen fighter to a F-35. A clean F-16 and one loaded with 6 missiles are two different things.
The F-35 will be no EF or Raptor, but no flying brick either.
Reg. vortex: the F-35 design looks like a mini Raptor, which is said to have some nice vortex generating devices.
I think they dropped the idea of a light fighter along with the CALF designation.
The F-35 is nowhere referred to as light. The fact that its going the replace the LWF F-16 doesnt make the JSF light. 😀
Correct me if I’m wrong, but afaik the current figures are for the JSF configuration before they had to reduce the weight by about 3000lb.
The target weight for the F-35A is probably around 12 tons.
TWR with 43000lb engine is around 0.9 and wing loading ~500kg/m2.
Doesnt look very good compared to an F-16, but the latter has to carry all stores external, so the F-35 might not perform worse. One goal of the F-35 was afterall to have equal or better flight characteristics than the F-16.
