Isn´t he somehow associated with the Tillamook Air Museum?

B-17 “Chuckie” and Fw 190 have been sold too, seen at Platinum Fighters

Hopefully (I´ll keep all my fingers crossed) those airworthy planes (wherever they go) will be kept airworthy and flown. It would be a shame if they were to be locked away in a hangar not to see the sun anymore.

Maybe this is where those crated Burma Spitfires went…… :highly_amused::dev2:

I would like to say a big “Thank You” to everyone who made the recovery of the Do 17 possible. RAFM and Seatech did well. It could have been much worse, if not done right. Just compare it with the recovery of the Fw 200 for DTMB in 1999:

Sad to see the a/c crumble on deck….
Michael
BTW: The salvage company did get every penny of their money, as the deal was, to get the Fw 200 onto the ponton. Nobody specified the condition it should be in….
Restored within two months- impressive!
Loan is for ‘several years’ but is open to extension, thereafter to be returned to NNMA.
Dave
Lol, thought the same. Maybe it will be shown “as is” and restored later, or they simply apply some paint. I have no information about what they intend to do. It only was stated somewhere that it was difficult to get the Arado from the NNMA, and it was only granted due to loan to MFG instead of museum, and it helped there is the 100 years anniversary. At least that is what I read.

To those who want to follow MeierMotors´ activities between Matthias´ excellent posts in this thread, you might wish to visit their FB site. (If you do not know already):

Maintained and updated quite frequently by Matthias as well. Though pictures in this thread are better quality, updates on their FB site are more often.
Thank you for your updates and pictures, Matthias, quite a lot of work besides your job and family, much appreciated.

This for sure is good news. A big “Thank You” to all involved. Another reason to visit Hendon for the 4. time. I am really glad they did it, well done, guys.
Michael
That looks like good fun! Reminds me of that scene at the beginning of the Battle of Britain film.
Right. I thought the same when seeing Pen Pusher´s 3. pic. BTW I did not realise they did a conversion during filming. There must have been a very fast engine change, as the Buchon was suddenly an Avia, at least the video says so. Maybe someone should have told them the difference, lol. :dev2:
Michael
P.S.: I told them, and they changed it into “Buchon Fly By”.
@Duxman: Thanks for your pics. If you put pics 3 and 4 together, just 3 above 4 without any space in between…. I believe it would look stunning. Well, or 1 above 4…
Michael
I bet the Israeli´s would have preferred the Buchon´s instead of the Avia´s. Looks quite convincing. Thanks to all who posted their pics, I really enjoyed them.

Erich Bachem , designer and builder of the Bachem Natter, subsequently joined with Erwin Hymer to build Hymer caravans and eventually motor homes. The company used the original factory where the Bachem Natters were built to build their caravans and motor homes for some time and IIRC the building is still used for storage by the Hymer company.
This was covered in After the Battle a short while ago
Not quite correct. AFAIK Erich Bachem (before building the Natter he was at Fieseler, Kassel) founded his own company, ERIBA (ERI ch BA chem) after the war. First they built wooden composite caravans, later aluminium ones as well. They were quite well done and owners were pleased with them. Hymer, located in the vicinity took over Eriba when Erich Bachem died.

Flew in G-BJAX myself a couple of times. Be great to seeit back in the air!!
DXB Driver.
They wrote on MeierMotors FB page that G-BJAX is not a project yet. It is primarily used as a template for some of the Messerschmitt parts it incorporates for the Bf 109 E project of Robs Lamplough. The Swiss used not only the main landinggear of the 109 E, but several other parts as well on the Pilatus P 2. But maybe later it will be made airworthy as well… Surely I do hope so.
Michael
Great pictures, thank you for posting. The 262 looks quite impressive.
