Seems to be in a remarkably good condition, given the age and landing on water. Not much of destruction. Though I doubt someone will part with the needed cash to lift her. Very nice find, and good video.

…….
The only thing missing s the 4th dial – Wannenbehalter inhale.
……
Brian, it must read: Wannenbehälter Inhalte , (sump ? – trough ?) container content(s) (not sure about the correct translation)

Now all the Buchons are officially sold. They are in the “Sold” section on Platinums homepage now. Any ideas who the buyer is?
Michael
To be precise, none of these are flying with their original engines, as they are all re-engined Buchons.
Didn’t one of them appear at a RIAT some years back?
Yes, IIRC it was D-FWME G-4 Red 7
If you look at photos of their workshop, they have three (the ex-Hans Dittes one, and their own D-FMBB, as well as ‘Red 7’), from which they struggle to keep just one airworthy on occasion. A difficult undertaking.
You are right with your assessment. Though they had some quite unlucky coincidences, so it took some time to get at least one into the air again. D-FMBB, their G-6 FM+BB, was intended to get a main overhaul due to having flown the most hours of all 3. Then D-FDME, their G-10 Yellow 3 (formerly Black 2), had major engine problems, so the DB had to be overhauled as well. They had their Bf 108 in for overhaul as well as the Argus engine. Finally last years bellylanding of D-FWME, their G-4 Red 7, necessitated repairs and engine check as well. I submit some pics taken by my friend Harald Wiegand last week at their facility. ……….
I thought by the way that were relatively many in Italy, having survived post WW2 as glider tugs?
……….
I have been at Varese with my father at “Centro Volo A Vela Alpino Varese” in 1964 or 1965. At that time they operated at least 3 or 4 Stinsons as Glidertugs, maybe there were even more airframes for spareparts / as replacement as well. Additionally a Do 27 was there too. Unfortunately I have no registration nor any serial numbers. Only thing I remember is, they all were painted a silverish lightgrey.
Michael
Great pics, this camera for sure does things others won´t. Incredibly light and clear pics, even the background is surprisingly precise. Never saw photos that clear under the conditions that are found in Hendon. It would be interesting to see a side by side comparison pics taken with a “normal”, regular camera. Thank you for posting!
Michael
You could do them in one but two days would allow a more leisurely visit, especially if you are interested in the wide variety of vehicles etc. that they also house.
Exactly what I would have written. If you only like to see planes, and are willing to rush through both of the museums, you might do it in one day. But I would recommend doing it in one day for each. Though the distance between them is not that far, traffic mostly is busy at least on the Autobahn. This alone might spoil your timetable especially if you are driving between Monday and Saturday, when a lot of lorries are jamming the lanes.
Michael
P.S.: Good idea by RMR to include Hermeskeil in a 2 days tour. A lot of planes there, well worth visiting too!
Was this the one that was used for crew training at Frankfurt Airport, & sat on the apron at Tur 23 Lufthansa Tecknik??
ATB Duggy
Yes, that´s the one!
Mike. The tabloid press and AVweb are reporting the deal as a Spit and 9 Buchons. Presumably the two seater Buchon is included in this batch.
Platinum fighters website shows 5 Buchons “pending”. Is this the balance of airframes as that would agree with the 14 that Connie Edwards had after trading 2 of his 16 for MH415. ref this excellent video http://vimeo.com/99991680

Maybe they simply added up the “lot of spare parts” so they got 3 additional ones? Platinum has 5 single seaters, plus the 2 seater. But wait and see, eventually all will be sorted out… Anyway, not registered as “Sold” neither on their FB page nor their homepage, all a/c are “pending” 5 mins. ago when I looked it up….

What I first found quite astonishing is the very clear and detailed background (hangar roof or wall). It seems to me those details quite far away are much sharper as in pics taken with other cameras, or is it just my imagination? The range of detailed objects seems to be really great.

The G-12 at MeierMotors is proceeding nicely.

My money would be on the Hangar 10 ‘109G-12 flying first, mind!
At least they are proceeding at a remarkable pace.
Wouldn´t it be a stunning event, if there could be 2 109 2 seaters, or to be correct one Buchon 2-seater and one G-12 2-seater, attending? And maybe some T.9´s as well…. I for sure would like to see them displaying together.
Michael
There is even a third one in Germany, D-ETHN.
