I hope this is just the FAA being over cautious.
As with all new technology, there will always be period of ironing out.

Video of it doing it’s thing in the desert, and also footage of the original somewhat weary looking airframe. They have done nice resoration job on that fuselage.

It’s the ‘Sopwith 1 1/2 Strutter’ that has done the rounds ! Its basis is a Salmson 2A2 replica built in France .Its been in the U.K since the late 1980’s.
Blimey that was quick!
I love this forum 🙂
Congratulations Martin and Katie 🙂
Was Rob your chief bridesmaid ??:diablo:
Good luck for the future.
Kev
P.S. You do realise that now your married, there’ll be no more keeping aeroplanes in your garage………well at least that’s what happened to me..lol:D
Yes, those Quantas 707’s do stir the nostalgia don’t they?
BTW, great to see you back Steve. 🙂
Garryap17, my mate who these cine films were taken by, is of Glaswegian lineage, so he used to often travel up and down between Coventry and Glasgow.I think there maybe some more hidden treasure in that reel cupboard, as he was always rather enthusiastic with the camera.
Cheers.
Kev.
P.S. Can anyone confirm the livery of the first aircraft on the Heathrow clip in my first post??..Thanks.
Cheers for the replies.
Been offline for a bit due to a rather nasty Trojan (TDSS).
Anyway, my mates been at the 8mm archive again and come up with these little gems.

Well i’m here now….what a beautiful country!!
I’m on honeymoon so Air Museums are strictly ‘off limits’. 😮
Stayed in Vancouver for a while, then drove to Field BC staying in Emerald Lake, now off to Banff for a spell at Buffalo mountain.
Might try to break her resolve when in Calgary, but I don’t hold up much hope. She’s suffered enough being a MAM widow:o .
Worth a visit just for it’s beauty/people.(It’s nice to go to a country where they like the Brits :diablo: )

Whilst I can see your point of view, it just seems wrong to have an American commercial carrier (nothing against our pals over the pond), transporting passengers on behalf of the British Forces, from Brize to Stanley.
However as a tax payer, I can sypathise with the cost element.
Surely XL can’t be that much more expensive, or am I being naive 😮 .
Bostin:)
P.s. Can’t see a need to move to general discussion, this a topic about a commercial passenger carrying contract.:p
TA Mate 😀 😀 😀 😀
Obviously fuel would be covered 😉
Bostin:)
Note to self……..Rob’s a sucker for a sob story….could come in useful…..hmmmmm.
Well good luck whenever it is!:) Fantastic acheivement:D
I wish I could make it up there tommorow, but unfortunately unable to drive for 6 weeks due to spinal surgery, (which is really helpful when you work for a leading roadside assist club 😮 ).
Anyway I’m sure Robmac will be there and do his usual trick of phoning me up at the time saying ‘aaww mate ya wanna see this’…..’can’t believe what ya missing’….etc:p :p :p :p :diablo: 😉 😉
Right,enough of my rambling….safe trip 558:)
