Guys,

I just picked up this AC 11232 ( Sea Hawk & Vampire T11) whilst in the UK. It looks to be NOS, but is missing the brake lever & “slide” & some of the “trigger mechanism”.

As you can see I have the trigger block, but the “SAFE” covers are missing.
As these available anywhere ? or do I have to look for a complete “trigger mechanism” ? Are there different sizes/styles ?

Here’s a photo showing the “safe” covers on an AC11232 that I lifted off ebay a while ago

Thanks for looking

Sorry for not replying earlier. I could read the post ( Via phone ) but not really practical to answer.
Ian / John I’ll call. I have some Javelin news & am needing some stick top parts too.

What a shame 🙁 Here are pictures of Staffords Javelin after being ripped apart by the bulldozers…

http://www.btinternet.com/~javelin/p06_picture_galleries/end_of_the_road/end_of_the_road.htm

Guys,

Does any one have a copy of this Picture ?

Does anyone know which scrapyrad it was in Stafford ( near my mums & I have a boring Weekend ahead 🙂 )

Thanks in Advance

Look what I just got :eagerness:

It’s a Mick Reeves Kit ( google it ) that I bought a while ago. A good friend of mine built it ( Static only. It will not /cannot fly ). I had the kit made up as XH885, since that is the aircraft my centre panel came from.

For some reason SWMBO won’t allow me to hang it in the living room. But luckily the barn is big enough 🙂

I have a spare Crash pad ( See E-Mail ), may have a spare camera & definately interest in the panels.

Chaps,

A good friend of mine has asked me if I can “put together” a Panel for him. It doesn’t have to be 100% true to original, just “look good” & be “good value” ( ie cheap ! )

So I got a reproduction blank Meteor F7 Panel & filled some of the holes …. sticking as close to the original as I can , but using only gauges from my “spares” box.

http://www.a-k-d.com/pics/meteor_F7_hannes.jpg

As you can see I still have 3 holes :apologetic: 2 are 3 3/4″ & the lower right is a 4″ hole …… I pretty sure I can fill the 3 3/4 holes ( a 2nd RPM gauge would be good & an adapter plate with a small guage for the other ) BUT I don’t have any 4″ instruments. Can anyone suggest a gauge that could be used to fill the hole, without breaking the bank ?

hi Herbert ( & everyone else ! )

I’ve replaced the attachments with embedded pics. does it work now ?

Follow this link for a scan from the pilots notes for the MK9 showing the lower left panel ( & left side of the main Panel, as well as the radio you asked about ) => http://www.a-k-d.com/javelin/Jav_MK9_Fig1.jpg

This link is the index => http://www.a-k-d.com/javelin/Jav_MK9_1.jpg

I’ve deliberately left the scans large !

Hi Pukka,

Nice One ! I nearly bought the parts ( from a German seller not too far from you ), but we couldn’t agree on a price :apologetic:

I reckon the parts are from a MK 9.

Here’s a close up of the lower left Panel. This is actually a MK7 Panel but it’s the closest I could find detailed photos of. As you can see it is actually 2 Panels http://www.a-k-d.com/javelin/MK7_lower_left.jpg

I think most of the instruments should be easy to find ( I can direct you to the correct “oval” Instrument, which I believe was unique to the Javelin ) . I’m still looking for the various “Sub Panels” & U/C Switch if anyone has one !

I have a centre Panel => http://www.a-k-d.com/javelin/javelin_panel.jpg which I bought from a from a UK collector. We’re pretty sure this came from XH885 which my dad flew a few times.

Please feel free to get in touch if you want to talk javelins. Ich wohne in Deutschland, kann Deutsch problemlos sprechen & lesen, aber schreiben ist etwas anders 🙂

All the Best

Guys,

I won the recent auction for the Red Arrows Gnat top

http://i.ebayimg.com/t/RAF-RED-ARROWS-FOLLAND-GNAT-AIRCRAFT-CONTROL-GRIP-1979-RAF-KEMBLE-ORIGINAL-VGC-/00/s/MTIwMFgxNjAw/$T2eC16JHJIkE9qU3iycSBQp7YKosY!~~60_57.JPG

It’s arrived & is luverly 🙂

What the general opinion on the wiring ? It seems a shame to chop it off, but I’m not likely to ever need it again & it “b*ggers” up the display.

This stick top came with an RAF “serviceable” tag … would be shame to deliberately destroy it.

What would you do ?

OK guys,
Just to really stir things up here.

A while ago I found some pics of an AC 10800 which looks identical to the AC1400 & AC10522. The sticktop was forsale somewhere. ( not eBay ). The text said it came from a Meteor MK 8 ( I cannot confirm this is correct )

I stored the pics locally on my harddrive. They are shown below.

This has the marked safety cover & “blank” buttons

http://www.a-k-d.com/sticktops/small_ac10800_2.jpg
http://www.a-k-d.com/sticktops/small_ac10800_3.jpg

So it appears that all combinations of safety covers & buttons were available……

Of course the combinations we now see & photograph may not have been available in the 50’s. I’m sure many of these sticktops have been stripped & rebuilt since then.

Another question for all you experienced collectors – Is there anywhere on the internet where I can look up an AC number to find out where the stick was used & what it should look like ?

If not, is there any interest in starting a central list like that ?

Hi Stevew62,

The AC1400 was used in many applications however, the two buttons have C and M which mean ‘Camera’ and ‘Mute’….
Martyn,

Hi Martyn,

Thanks for the Info.

I’m still pretty new to this & on a steep learning curve. I admit I assumed “M” in this case was for “missile” ( or similar )

Here’s the top of my AC10522 ( which I believe was used in Venoms / Sea Venoms & some Meteor Night Fighters )

It has the same buttons & markings but this time the safety cover is also marked ( I’ve left the safety cover half open here )

http://www.a-k-d.com/sticktops/ac10522_top.jpg

does RP mean “Rocket Projectile” ?

BTW, the safety cover is fully open on my AC1400 picture a few posts above.

FLY.BUY – I guess I saw about 20 grips in total. Most grips were around the 300 Euro mark, but some closer to 1000. There were a lot of helicopter grips.

Some grips were quite a bit newer & mostly plastic. My interest lies in British cold war jets so that’s what I was really looking for.

Apart from the one I bought I saw a really nice Dunlop Helicopter grip ( with cables) marked AC 61810 ( I think with a manufacture date of 1961 ) – I should have bought that one too ( he wanted 250 Euros )

Maybe next time !

Time for a quick update.

I bought a JP T5 panel ( of a forum regular – thanks ! ). Was surprised to see a hole for Gunsights on/off & did some checking to find it’s a Strikemaster panel 😀
http://www.a-k-d.com/strikemaster/small_strike_before.jpg

So thanks to cockpitfest / eBay & a couple of forum regulars it now looks like this

http://www.a-k-d.com/strikemaster/small_strike_during.jpg

I’m missing the Fuel Valve Test “thingy”
http://www.a-k-d.com/strikemaster/fuel_valve_test.jpg

The pressure gauge at the bottom should look like this …
http://www.a-k-d.com/strikemaster/fuel_lbs.jpg

& I’m missing a few light “caps”

it’s a start. Next step after the trial fit above is a rub down & repaint.
