Guys,
I picked this one up at Speyer yesterday.
Marked AC1400 it was used in the following types :- Attacker , Firebrand, Vampire, Meteor & Wyvern. My sticktop has a manufacture date 1957, so that rules a couple out from this list !
It has the wrong brake lever fitted though. the “lock” on the stick is on the right ( looking from pilots seat ) the “lockscrew” on the brake is on the left. 🙁
The Brake lever is engraved
ACM 16286 ISS 5 8927AA & then some other numbers I can’t make out.
Does anyone out there have the “right” Brake lever ? Or can anyone Identify which Brake lever I have ?
60 sqn Javelin – air to air
This one is in my Dad’s logbook

It’s just a “normal” photo, about 4″*6″ I don’t suppose anyone has ever seen it before. I’m not sure how big it could be blown up to.
The flight is listed as 10 July 1964 with Mike Thomas as Navigator, ” H.L. + L.L. Battle & Close ( 2 of 4 )”
BTW, have you seen these ?
Many thanks for the Info Guys. This forum is amazing 🙂
Especially glad to know where it came from & Thanks Andy for “saving” the yoke all those years ago, without your action who knows what could have become of it.
It’s now safely “presented” between 5 Stick Tops 🙂
Ian, It was the “right price” for me ( conseiderably less than those on the site you linked to ).
Many thanks John !
That’s my dad flying #4 in 1969 🙂
Hi Ian,
Thanks for the tip !
My AC61050 also has AC14323 ( Iss 7 ) stamped in the casting. So I guess AC14323 is just that, the casting number ?
Did you keep any details of the eBay auction ? I’d like to look at it if possible.
…. I had one of these grips where the brakelever mount had been removed and a stainless spacer plate fitted in its place. It always confused me! Now I know where it would have fitted. ….
Hi Tony, thanks for the reply.
“had” as in sold / swapped ?
Did you keep a record of the AC number ( or any photos ) ? If not, can you remember where it went to ?
16 Javelins from 60 Sqn. April 1966.

Mostly MK 9’s but it looks like a MK 3 snuck in there !
Chaps,
I’ve just taken delivery of this “beauty”

As you can see there is a knob missing ( red box ). As far as I know it should look like the one in the green box.
Has anyone got a hidden stash or a good supplier ? PM me if you’d prefer not to post publicly
The clock is in the UK at the moment, with my brother. he reports that it is running fast ( gained 30 mins in 12 hrs ) & he can’t get the trip timer to move.
Is there an “idiots” guide out there somewhere ?
TIA Steve
Javelin U/C selector switch
Guys,
Does anyone out there have ( or know of ) a U/C selector switch for a Javelin – Part # 5CW/5122
here’s one I took a photo of
Also looking for any of the “Side” instrument panels. I have the Center & most of the instruments/switches/lights etc ….
TIA
Steve
I was there for the first time ( only Saturday ).
A “pre-order” with Bruce ensured that it would be a success.
But I came home with this lot ….

I met a bunch of interesting & like minded people. Oneday I can hopefully help them as much as they helped me with my JP / Javelin projects.
Steve
Great link -Thanks!
Does anyone know if replacement rubber “crashpads” are available for the gunsight ?
Steve,
I must apologise for missing that the NAM 2012 Cockpit-Fest listing has details of a display about “RAF College Of Air Warfare, Macaws Display Team” – information overload I’m afraid, sorry!! 😮
I will endeavour to find out what is being planned for this particular display – I also anticipate that a further event update will be added to the NAM website later today!
Thanks T.O. I’d appreciate it.
I will be visiting Cockpitfest for the first time this year & am primarily interested in Aerobatics ( especially Jet Provost teams ) & Javelins so it looks like the event will fit the bill perfectly !
I’m hoping to go home with loads of bits for my JP & Javelin instrument panels. ( from the Aeroboot, not the aircraft on display 😮 )
Tkanks
Steve
….. pleased to see:
