I couldn’t make it to Newark over the weekend, but a friend of mine did.

He came back with a Javelin Stick top for me 🙂 So even though I’m on the “wrong side” of the channel it was a great event for me

I will be there for Cockpitfest though, looking for various Javelin / JP T5 panels & instruments

This lot looks right up the street of some of you on here, you will need to get a projector to run them or get them put on DVD.. The quality will be there as they are official films, but I don’t know if age comes into it.

Nice find, rare opportunity I would think, I’ve never heard of the ‘Blue Chips’ RAF Chipmunk team before now!

    Chaps,

I won the Cine Film auction. The auction says the films are from the 60’s but the Blades were formed in 1970 … & …. My Dad lead the Blades in 1970, so I’m hoping the films show the 1970 team.

There’s some info on the 1970 Blue Chips here => http://www.linton-gin.com/airclues2410.html

I’m really not sure about the Copyright laws, but I’ll be getting the films digitised for personal use & will report back as to what’s on there.

    All the Best
    Steve

You’ve seen these before, but here are a couple from 21 Sept 1969

I can maybe rule out a couple of Serial numbers for the leaders aircraft in 2 years.

My Dad sat backseat in 2 Arrows shows.

    9 May 1969 – Linton – XR994 Flt Lt ( Doug ? ) Smith flew the show.
    18 May 1977 – Aberdeen – XR992 – Dudley Carvell flew the show.

I assume the same aircraft was assigned to a pilot/position for the entire year ?

I can also add that he flew a “test” flight on 21 July 1961 in XR537 – with Flt Lt Molloy. This is listed in his log book as ” LL Battle, Close & T/C CCTs”

Now what you need Mr W’ is a Piston Provost main panel to go with it :diablo:
    .

Thanks for the suggestion Mr T. Lemme finish what I’ve started then I’ll come back to you.

I have the Pilots Notes for a Provost T1, so I at least know what the target would be in this case.

    Jet Provost T3 Panel

I feel a bit of a cheat here, but I just bought this one.

    A Jet Provost T3 panel
    http://www.a-k-d.com/provost/JP-T3.jpg

I have the Oxygen regs for the sub-panels that hang off the main panel & go just above the Pilots & Student’s knees. Does anyone have the empty panels ( or a pattern ? ).

I got hooked after buying this & have started in a (small way) on a JP-T5 panel…

Then to top it all, I’ve also agreed to buy a full Javelin MK 9 centre panel, which I’m hoping to extend in various directions.

I have the AP’s for MK 3 / 5 & 9 Javelins ( dad flew them ), but unfortunately the Front Cockpit Centre view is missing from the MK 9. Anyone out there got one ? ( Index for Fig 3 is also on the backside )

Don’t tell the wife, she’ll never notice !

    Guys,

I just checked my Dad’s log books & I misled you ( sorry ). According to his log book the various FTS’s got together & practiced out of Gaydon The first full EIIR flight was on 6 June, & was practiced 8 times before the shows on the 14th.

    Chaps,

I just found another cine film from my Dad’s time in the RAF.

This one shows what looks like a practice for the EIIR flypast. It shows MANY silver & dayglo Jet Provosts taxying, taking-off, practicing & landing. I haven’t counted the aircraft in the film, but can believe there are over 30 shown. Definately shot in 1968, probably from Dishforth ( where else would all these aircraft have been together ? )

    Enjoy !

This one was taken outside a friends farmhouse in Lockerbie.

According to the photo date I was 13 at the time. I’m in the Red pants & wellies !

As I remember it, the pilot circled a few times then landed in a nearby field. He stayed overnight & left early next morning.

I don’t think he knew our friends, but just needed an R&R stop.

Well weathered leather, hot metal and oil, the scented country air. Sunlight on chrome, the blur of the landscape, every bit aware!

Blimey !! a Rush fan …. didn’t think I’d find one of those here 🙂
