“Amiri” is essentially the same thing as “Royal” in Arabic.

Thanks- looks like it is.
Is this an Afghan An-12?
Uganda Air Force Dakota U-404…

A very wild tail insignia behind it! Wonder what that one is?
Here’s an Albanian Alouette III. The white text on the fuselage reads, “NJESIA E TRANSPORTIT MJEKESOR ME HELIKOPTER”, which translates to, “Helicopter Transportation Medical Unit”. See http://www.pad.gov.al/content/Institucione/ministrite/MSH/EN/helicopter%20medical%20transportation%20unit.htm for an overview.
Take a close look at the airspeed dial (upper left on console). It red-lines at between 250 and 275 knots.
And I love the yellow-and-black pee-pee pad between the pilot’s legs. Who says totalitarian dictatorships don’t care about their people?
Well, it is obviously a rather rudimentary mockup.
What I don’t understand, is how a nation with such a large population + military base, a largish economy, fails so badly to make a decent propaganda showing…is that model really the best they could do? A more conventional styled mockup made with actual aviation metals would go much farther than this thing.
That’s what you get with a bunch of blithering idiots in charge of a totalitarian regime.
There is one role this thing actually makes sense. It is a modern day Kamikaze plane. Cheap to built, slow, hard to detect, flown by barely trained volunteers.
But- you don’t think the Iranians would resort to something as barbaric as that, do you? Oh, yeah- I forgot…
Anyone with more info ???
Deino
Yeah, I’ve got some more info:
– Those clowns can’t even build a convincing model.
– The “prototype” sounds the same every time it passes over.
– It looks worse than the contraption they cooked up for that Clint Eastwood movie “Firefox”.
What a bunch of turds. They’d better hope that monkey survived, because he has more brains than any of them do.
And the old Seychelles roundel on a BN-2, an Alouette III, and a Rallye Guerrier.
with the new Seychelle’s roundel !
never seen before …more explanation ;
India Set To Transfer A Newly Built Dornier Do-228 Aircraft To Seychelles
The Dornier Do-228 Transport Aircraft, made by the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited [HAL], will soon be transferred for operation by the Seychelles Air Force.
The aircrafts are built in India, under license from its original manufacturers the, then, Dornier GmBH company, at HAL’s Transport Aircraft Division [TAD]. This news was reported in the latest edition of HAL-Connect,“TAD, Kanpur Division will deliver a Do-228 aircraft to Seychelles Air Force shortly. The Division conducted a four week training program for the Seychelles aircrew from November 19 to December 15, 2012, to acquaint with the operation of the aircraft. The training program was designed to cover all relevant aspects of the aircraft including airframe, power plant, avionics, auto flight, electrical power, aircraft electrical as well as mechanical system and aircraft flying procedures.

Here’s another one from the Seychelles- a Twin Otter.
Do228 of Seychelles
An absolutely fantastic find! Thanks!
I don’t think that’s a Lama; that’s an Astazou engine on the deck, which would make it an SA.318 Alo II. The two-bladed tail rotor is the other identification factor for the 318.
Edit: I don’t think that’s a Chilean insignia either, it is showing a diagonal white stripe instead of a central white star.
The reason I suspected it was a Lama was the landing skids. I may be wrong, but from all the evidence I have seen, Alouette II skids are much closer to the fuselage than Lama skids. See attached Cameroonian Lama and Belgian Alouette II.
Well, Belgian Gendarmerie it is! Wow- I never expected my simple question would instigate such a fantastic and voluminous response! Thanks very much, everyone. This is such a great collection of threads.
