That is likely to include an Indian request for lease of a second nuclear-powered submarine from Moscow, following the lease of the INS Chakra attack boat in 2012.
The Deccan Herald reports Delhi wants to finance the completion of an Alfa Class submarine that was started during the Soviet era but not completed due to the funding collapse following the demise of the USSR. The deal could be worth 60 billion Rupees ($983 million) the paper says.

Too bad that all the Alfa class submarines are scrapped since India seems to want one. But seriously that is the first time I have seen any cost estimate.
At least half a dozen bilateral agreements in spheres like energy, biotechnology, metrology and technical regulations, and a big ticket deal on an undisclosed subject, are expected to be signed at the 14th Indo-Russian annual summit in Moscow on October 21, key Indian officials involved in the negotiations (which are still going on) said. However the X factor that is likely to dominate the summit and the strategic outcome, whether announced or unannounced, is Russia agreeing to lease second nuclear submarine to India.
India has been looking to take a second nuclear submarine on lease from Russia and talks are believed to have progressed well. The two sides are keeping budget-level secrecy on this subject. The issue is likely to dominate discussions between Singh and Putin during a restricted meeting where the two principals meet with select aides.

Interesting news. I would like to see some official news from this matter in the near future and I would also like to know how long would it take to finish that submarine.
Interesting pic. Did not know that they can do that in open sea.
Russia until the end of the year should answer the proposals of Ukraine on the completion of Project 1164 missile cruiser, in the meantime, no agreement on that ship there, told RIA Novosti on Friday, a senior Defense Ministry.
He was commenting on reports by some media that the Russian supposedly can buy in Ukraine Project 1164 missile cruiser (formerly “Ukraine”), a billion rubles (it was originally called the sum of one billion dollars).

So, it would seem that negotiations are still ongoing. For that price we might even see a deal in the future.
After the state of emergency on board diesel-electric submarines 877EKM “Sindurakshak” India intends to accelerate negotiations for a second lease nuclear submarine of project 971 “Pike-B”. As planned, the September 1 on an official visit to Moscow to visit the delegation headed by the Secretary of Defense of India’s defense industry Radha Krishna Mathur.

Any idea how long it would take to finish Iribis If India decides to lease 2nd sub this year.
“If a SSBN shoot a SLBM under the Artic iced sea, what happens:
a) the missile breaks the ice and reaches its target;
b) the missile breaks the ice but doesn´t reache its target;
c) the missile explodes against ice.”
I took that question from other website because I thought it was interesting. I remember reading decades ago that it can be done, so, the answer is A, but does anyone know how thick ice can be broken by a SLBM?
I also remember reading article some years ago stating that Russia had launched SLMB under ice. I don’t think it was the one below but it stated the same things than this one.

Zubr under construction in China.
Is that suppose to be this……..:confused:
Apparently it is not an LHD, although it sure looked like an LHD.
According to one guy who usually seems to be right about PLAN related things, it is some kind of mock-up module of chinese future aircraft carrier. Apparently it has been there for a while now.
Pics of first Chinese LHD under construction.
Recent pic of Vladivostok.
Apparently that sub is the largest conventional submarine in the world. The submarine was commissioned in October 2012.
Submarine specs:
Length 92.6m.
Surfaced displacement 3 797 tons.
submerged displacement 6 628 tons.
