Russia is going to get a fresh order of building three more Talwar-class stealth frigates for India later this year which is likely to be worth $3 billion. Knowledgeable sources told RIR that the Indians have already orally conveyed their in-principle decision to Russia to construct three more Talwar-class frigates. A formal contract is likely to be signed after Russia delivers to India the third and final Talwar-class stealth frigate INS Trikand, being built at the Yantar shipyard in Russia. The delivery is expected in June 2013.

First ship of the second batch of Gepard-class frigates will be laid down in june.

Two export corvette “Gepard-3.9” on the revised draft will be constructed for 11661E Vietnamese Zelenodolsk Shipyard, said the company’s CEO Renat Mistahov.

“Laying the Vietnamese corvette under the contract will be made in June this year, will then be laying the second ship,” – said Mistahov ITAR-TASS during the international exhibition LIMA 2013.

“The terms of delivery to the customer ships are scheduled for 2016 and 2017,” – he added.

India is planning to tie up with Russia for enhancing self reliance in capabilities for design and development of all types of warships, including submarines, for the Navy and the Coast Guard.

The Defence Ministry is planning to have a tie-up between the Kerala-based National Institute of Research and Development in Defence Shipbuilding (NIRDESH) and Russian Krylov Institute for working in this direction, officials said here.

India is ready to finance the completion of a partly constructed nuclear submarine which sits at the Amur Shipbuilding Plant in the Russian Far East, the Russian government news agency RIA Novosti quoted an unnamed “highly-placed” source in the defence industry. The official said an inter-government agreement for the resumption of the submarine construction is “in the works”.

Ukrainian Defense Ministry seeks partner countries sharing an unfinished missile cruiser of Project 1164 (former cruiser “Ukraine”). This was announced by Deputy Defense Minister Alexander Oleinik, the “Ukrinform”.

“The question is being worked with many countries, including the Russian Federation, on the possible joint use of the cruiser for the future. Simple question. You know that Ukraine is working on it for over 10 years” – said A.Oleynik.

I wonder what kind of ship sharing partnership is Ukraine looking for? They should make her as a rental cruiser?
