Russia is going to get a fresh order of building three more Talwar-class stealth frigates for India later this year which is likely to be worth $3 billion. Knowledgeable sources told RIR that the Indians have already orally conveyed their in-principle decision to Russia to construct three more Talwar-class frigates. A formal contract is likely to be signed after Russia delivers to India the third and final Talwar-class stealth frigate INS Trikand, being built at the Yantar shipyard in Russia. The delivery is expected in June 2013.

3 billions sounds way too much. Anyway, Yantar will be very busy yard in the coming years.

That doesn’t sound too far fetched to me but might turn out to be someone’s idea of a April Fools’ Day joke.

Main Command of the Russian Navy began work on creating the ship to fight with low noise non-nuclear submarines like the German Project 212/214 with hydrogen engines, the newspaper “Izvestia”, noting that the decision of the Commander in Chief Viktor Chirkov ship should be ready to start in 2017 .
The basis is taken unfinished housing frigate “Fog” Project 11 540 (lead ship “Yaroslav the Wise”), which the building stopped in 1990 due to lack of funding. Housing is at the wall in the Kaliningrad shipyard “Yantar”, and finish it on the revised draft, the source of “News” in the Main Command.
In 2009, “Yaroslav the Wise” was completed after prolonged preservation, and the then Commander Vladimir Vysotsky said that it is not interested in the “fog”. But now it amiss for two reasons. First, the body is ready, requires no modifications. Secondly, it has a considerable displacement – 4.5 thousand tons. The initial project it is envisaged only one installation of anti-missile X-35, so it is a lot of room for complex ASW equipment and weapons. Third, cruising frigates 11,540 – almost 30 days, and that’s more than enough for the Baltic.

Ukrainian Defense Ministry seeks partner countries sharing an unfinished missile cruiser of Project 1164 (former cruiser “Ukraine”). This was announced by Deputy Defense Minister Alexander Oleinik, the “Ukrinform”.
“The question is being worked with many countries, including the Russian Federation, on the possible joint use of the cruiser for the future. Simple question. You know that Ukraine is working on it for over 10 years” – said A.Oleynik.
According to the First Deputy Minister of Defense, the joint use of the cruiser Ukrainian Defense Ministry will accumulate the resources needed to finance the development of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

I wonder what kind of ship sharing partnership is Ukraine looking for? They should make her as a rental cruiser? Then they could make ads like Rent a cruiser for two months and you get an extra month for free. That would be something. But seriously how would “joint use of a cruiser” work between multiple countries? I wonder what those other countries are?
