Recent news about MPSV06 class multipurpose salvage vessels.

On October 10, 2015, acceptance/delivery certificate was signed for the multipurpose salvage vessel of project MPSV06, Beringov Proliv (Hull No 217), the Project designer Marine Engineering Bureau says. The ship has left for port Korsakov.

Just started mooring trials, I don’t believe it.

It is just a landing ship not a frigate. Trials shouldn’t take long assuming they don’t find anything too serious during the trials.

After this class of multipurpose salvage vessels have been delivered Russia will have a nice fleet of 11 relatively large salvage and rescuer ships. By the way has anyone heard anything about the Spasatel Petr Gruzinskiy (MPSV06) which was laid down in 2010 at Amur Shipyard?

I still haven’t heard or seen anything about Spasatel Petr Gruzinskiy but the other two ships of this class are pretty much ready for action or will be very soon.

Mooring and sea trials of 7 MW multi-purpose salvage vessel Murman of Project MPSV06 (Hull No 218) were held on September 19-23 in the Baltic Sea, says press center of Federal Marine and River Transport Agency (Rosmorrechflot). Specialists of the central body and the Northern department of Rosmorrechflot’s Sea Rescue Service participated in the trials. The test programme has been completed in full.

Russia is considering the sale to India of three Project 11356 patrol ships that were expected to join the Russian Navy but lack Ukraine-built gas turbine engines (GTEs), a Russian military-technical cooperation source said Friday.

That would make sense for both Russia and India. India has indicated a number of times that they are considering a purchase of three additional ships of this class and this way they could get them pretty fast pace assuming that Ukraine can provide the engines which should not be a problem because at least two of the engines should have been build already just not delivered.

4th type 071 LPD, Yimeng Shan, has left for sea trials. The ship was launched in January and is expected to be commissioned by the end of the year. 5th ship is under construction but hasn’t been launched yet. 6th ship hasn’t probably been laid down yet.

Nice- it was laid down 3 years ago, quite a solid pace.

It is, although the 3rd ship, that being the 2nd ship (Novorossiysk) being build at Vyborg Shipyard, is a bit late on schedule. Nothing serious though and at least some of that were likely due to other factors rather than Shipyard related factors.
