It’s been well over a year since the 5th project 11356 were laid down. Any idea when is Admiral Kornilov going to be laid down? I remember reading back in 2013 that the 6th frigate may be cancelled but there is no officials news about that.

So, according to recent news the ship was indeed cancelled.

Later on, one of the projected vessels was cancelled as Russia decided to replace it with a stronger Admiral Gorshkov class frigate, also known as Project 22350.

Krylov Shipbuilding Research Institute together with CDB “Iceberg” and FSUE “Atomflot” are designing a new nuclear-powered icebreaker “Leader”. Future icebreaker “Leader” will have a capacity of 110 MW and will be able to overcome the ice thickness of 4.5 meters. The icebreaker will be used for wiring large tankers, since the width of his body will be about 50 meters. Thus, the “Leader” by its characteristics will surpass the universal icebreaker of latest generation LC-60 constructed at “Baltic Shipyard”. In total it is planned to build three such icebreakers, the first of which will be commissioned before the end of 2017.

    What a monstrous megabeast.

“Arctic Trade and Transport Company – Invest” has started production of the first marine WIG for foreign customer, CEO Ruben Nagapetyan said to “Interfax-AVN”.

“The company began manufacturing the first prototype of the marine 30-seat WIG within the development work for a foreign customer,” R. Nagapetyan said.

He said that the construction of WIG prototype will be completed by the end of this year, and its trial will begin in early 2016.

“Unfinished WIG refers to the “A” category, so it effectuates flights at a low altitude above the water level. At the same time WIG will have an element of “B” category – it can overfly obstacles, rising to a height of 150 m,” R. Nagapetyan said.

WIGs are not planes, so, I guess this is the right thread for them. That new WIG looks pretty damn cool.

Latest pic on new type 903A replenishment ships. The latest ship might be 7th type 903 ship, although it seems to be a new variant. Or it might be the 1st ship of a new class of replenishment ships. Maybe it is the 1st type 901 ship, which was listed earlier pic. I don’t know what ship class that is.

The ship in the 2nd pic is rumored to be the 4th type 904 replenishment ship.

Unofficial but interesting list of ships which are currently under construction in chinese shipyards. Seems pretty credible to me. According to the list one aircaft carrier and one Type 055 destroyer are under construction.

I remember reading back in 2013 that the 6th frigate may be cancelled but there is no officials news about that. So, I assume the delay has something to do with the new gas turbine plant. Hopefully they can figure out the the gas turbine plant problem fast, so, that it will not become a problem for India when negotiating a possible new frigate deal with them.
