    10.06.2004. Jat to Renew Fleet

The purchasing and leasing of Boeing aircraft are to represent Jat Airways’ initial business moves in the company’s bid to rejuvenate its fleet, as concluded in talks between Jat Airways Director-General Aleksandar Milutinović, MA, and Tom J. van der Hoeven, Boeing Sales Director for Europe, in Belgrade on June 8.
As Jat Airways’ fleet is outdated, and mostly consists of Boeing-made aircraft, Jat and Boeing have jointly voiced their readiness to find a solution so as to have Jat come by new aircraft under the most favorable conditions as soon as possible.
Jat Airways’ foreign debt (Paris and London Clubs) and the disputable agreement with Airbus were duly noted in the talks.
It was agreed that cooperation should be expanded to include securing equipment to modernize Jat Technical Operations, thus enabling it to carry out aircraft maintenance for the entire region. Modernization of the Training Center was also discussed, especially the practical training aspects of flight personnel (simulators, etc.).
Jat Airways is to prepare a corresponding study defining the needs of Technical Operations and the Training Center as well as modes of renewing the fleet.
Boeing representatives gave a brief presentation of the technical abilities of certain types of aircraft (the B-737-600, B-737-800, B-767-200 and B7E7) that would best fit into Jat Airways’ existing fleet.

Jat Airways spreads its WWWings in the region
Jat Airways, the flag carrier of Serbia, has reaffirmed its commitment to Dubai and the Middle East services as a whole, by launching a website dedicated to its passengers in the region.

    ——————————————————————————–

    Vladimir Ponjevic.

‘For the first time, Jat Airways will be in a position to offer our Middle East travelers, a site relevant to their journey from this region. We have launched the first phase of http://www.jat-me.com that includes the ever-so-popular special offers from Jat. Our aim is to improve the communication with our passengers, which until now was limited to telephonic and personal visits to our offices. This website is just a small hint of what is coming from Jat and what we are planning for our Dubai and Middle East operations’ says Vladimir Ponjevic, Deputy Regional Director, Middle East, Africa and Asia for Jat Airways.

Investing in IT related services is on the increase at Jat Airways, not only at outstations but at the head office in Belgrade as well. The airline acquired a new GDS and reservations system – Amadeus through Lufthansa Systems two years ago. The next phase is the development of the airline’s new global site. Vladimir Ponjevic, the Deputy Regional Director also sits on the panel that will bring the new http://www.jat.com to life, ‘We have a big task ahead of us; we are one of the very few European airlines that still does not offer our passengers on-line booking facilities. But through Management’s commitment and a will to change this, I think that we will soon be offering one of the best airline websites around.’

Jat Airways offers scheduled services from Belgrade to Dubai, Beirut, Damascus and Cairo. To coincide with the launch of the website and the upcoming Arabian Travel Market, Jat Airways is offering fantastic return-trip offers, valid through to May 31st.

The airline, previously known as JAT Yugoslav Airlines, resumed services to Dubai some two years ago, following a break of 10 years. Jat flies five weekly Boeing 737 flights between Dubai and Belgrade, via Beirut.

Jat Airways, which in 1996 placed an order for eight Airbus A319 aircraft, is revisiting the sanctions-era decision for which it has already made a down payment of over US$ 20 million. Jat’s new management, headed by the recently appointed CEO Mr. Aleksandar Milutinovic, announced that the Boeing 737-700/800 aircraft family is again in the running for Jat’s fleet renewal programme, alongside the previously announced A319 contender from Airbus.

    Final decision is expected shortly.

    Jat Airways reveals Dubai plans
More flights, improved schedule and really low fares are just some of the highlights of Jat Airways’ summer 2004 offer on the Dubai to Beirut and Belgrade route.

    ————————————————————————–

The airline, designated as the flag carrier of Serbia, now has five return frequencies on the sector. A new regional site was launched last week.

Jat Airways, the second largest airline in southeast Europe, announces the increase of frequencies on the Dubai to Beirut and Belgrade route. Prompted by stronger demand and general increase in passenger traffic from Dubai, the airline has increased to five, the weekly rotations on this sector. Jat now operates on Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, with convenient departures at 7:35 in the morning from Dubai. These morning departures allow for quick connections to the airline’s other European gateways such as Paris, Milan and Amsterdam through Belgrade.

“Jat Airways is prepared and will compete vigorously for the region’s passengers. Our improved schedule and added frequencies, along with very competitive pricing, are just some of the ways we intend to maintain our strong position” said Ilija Todoric, Jat Airways Regional Director, Middle East, Africa and Asia. ‘We are still contemplating flying to Dubai on a daily basis, even double daily on some days – we may even link Dubai with other Gulf destinations, or with the subcontinent, everything is possible’ reiterates Mr. Todoric.

The carrier will celebrate its 77th anniversary on June the 16th and plans to announce a major new aircraft order later in the year that will see the entire fleet replaced over the next decade. Both Airbus and Boeing are in the running to supply the new aircrafts that will see the current Boeing 737-300’s and Boeing 737-400’s eventually retired from service.

Meanwhile, Jat Airways launched the first phase of its regional web presentation. Commenting on the site’s launch last week, Vladimir Ponjevic, Jat Airways Deputy Regional Director, Middle East, Africa and Asia said, ‘This website is just a small hint of what is coming from Jat and what we are planning for our Dubai and Middle East operations’. He also noted that for the first time, Jat Airways will be in a position to offer Middle East travelers a site relevant to their journey from this region, including current special offers.

Aero Nais (Nis, S&M) is planning to launch operations with flights from Nis – Constantine the Great Airport, to Istanbul and Zurich later this summer season using two Fokker 100s. One F100 has been bought already.

    — (only in Serbian)

Niš dobija prvu privatnu aviokompaniju “Aero Nais”

    “Foker” kupljen za
    7,5 miliona dolara

    Svaka ptica svome jatu

“Aero Nais” – nova avio kompanija

As of March 18, 2004, the Jat Airways fleet was supplemented by another B-737-400, obtained under a longer-term lease.
This is an improved version with digitalized equipment, 144 seats – 132 in economy class and 12 in business class, all of them expandable to a total of 172.
The new aircraft – the third of its type in the Jat Airways fleet – will be taken over by Jat Technical Operations on April 10 and following the necessary adjustments is to enter regular Euro-Mediterranean traffic.
In this part of Europe, only Jat Technical Operations is authorized to carry out Boeing aircraft maintenance thus affording the aircraft another 3-4 years of flying according to the strictest of international technical standards.
Once the aircraft becomes operational, it is expected to increase Jat Airways` earnings by one million dollars this year alone.

-Flights to Pristina are suspended by all airlines, and the airports in Kosovo are closed until further notice.

    So it’s rather fokker-related..
