Whilst “working from home” have just been watching a large silver bird circling the tower at Parham – brilliant. Quite emotional really – left me a bit speechless, in the same way that the BBMF does sometimes.
Many thanks to BeaufighterV1 and TFC blogspot for heads up. It would be interesting to hear what Don Brooks’ thoughts are about the reception they’ve had in the UK so far, as it appears a little low key at times. I’m sure that will all change at the w/e
What are plans for next few days. Is the Liberty Belle coming East? If so when? Via?
Parham suggests visits tomorrow and Thurs. What with the weather as it is at present, does anyone have any up to date advanc info?
(Yes, I have been checking TFC blog – and will continue to do so, but advance info would be brill.)
Didn’t see it, but heard it in North Ipswich and I think later again at about 4pm. Was going to post a request for info but all now becomes clear.
Surprised to hear that it will be based so close to home. Any ideas as to why?
We’re lucky in being able to see Mr Hammond’s toys buzzing around the Suffolk skies on occasion, so this will give another shape for my kids to look out for.:)
Big Beautiful Doll flew low over my home in Pettaugh, Suffolk on Saturday afternoon so may well have been source of Merlin noise earlier in the week.
Thanks for posting and solving the mystery. My 8 year old son was convinced that the one on the right was a P40 – having read the “US Army” markings – his eyesight obviously far better than mine.
Now really wish I’d gone with my gut feeling and headed up the road to Hardwick. Doh!
What a fantastic looking event, does this happen on last open day every year?
Often see Janie fly over the house, occasionally with company, but a first today…
Three Mustangs in tight V formation over Pettaugh (South Suffolk) at about 12.40 . Centre one with invasion stripes (Janie?)
Heading towards Hardwick?
Then later at about 4pm single mustang just to North of here.
Any ideas exactly who, why and where were they heading?
🙂 Went for a couple of hours, missed arrival of convoy but great collection of vehicles.
Usual polished display by Sally B, Rob Davies and Maurice Hammond – lots of local “casual” visitors really got their money’s worth.
Some very impressive low passes over the wheat fields towards the tower.
The museum is superb and well worth a visit.
Let’s hope next year the windfarm won’t have intervened and we’ll see Sally B and Liberty Belle over Parham.
TFC Tigercat
Fairly sure that this is what flew over Ipswich today. 3.20ish heading S, 3.30ish heading N and heard again at 4.10ish.
Pre-ferry flight air testing?
Pair of Mustangs over Ickworth House (Bury St Edmunds) yesterday, heading East – assume Maurice Hammond and Rob Davies.
