When you attempt to cut corners on the flight deck you are not able to carry out high tempo operations like the US Navy. Lower safety standards equal injury or death. At the end of the day its your call.

If you are familiar with carrier operations in any way you will notice that Indian Navy crewmen are lacking head protection, floatation vests, basic eye protection and it appears steel toed work shoes. How the Indian Navy runs their carriers is their business, but they are playing a dangerous game with the lives and safety of their deck crew. And taking in to account the long history of the Indian navy operating carriers it cannot be excused.
They should know better.

it was largely built by MTG Dolphin in Varna, Bulgaria, as the ‘salvage and rescue’ vessel Savior (IMO: 9664500) under Project SV 02. It was then outfitted with combat systems at a naval shipyard – thought to be Astilleros de Guinea Ecuatorial (ASABA GE) – in Malabo.

“Indian warship building has matured with the shipyards having acquired good capability over the years. So there is no risk as far as shipbuilding is concerned. This is an ASW platform. The main equipment onboard such a ship is the sonar. There are two sonars on such platforms, namely, hull mounted sonar and the low frequency variable depth sonar. The technology does not exist for such sonars in India and will need to be procured from abroad,” Singh said.

Mmm, doubt that. More likely a shifting emphasis (from antiship to ASW) as the overall fleet cability increase. Or, a more GP-ship which can perform both tasks well enough.

There are only 4 Abhay class / Pauk / Project 1241.2 Molniya-2 ASW corvettes but 12 Veer class / Tarantul II / Project 1242.1/1241.8 ‘Molniya’missile FACs. The latter 12 have no ASW role and systems. SO, I wonder what the deal really is here…
According to telegraaf.nl the Netherlands has sold the supply vessel Zr. Ms. Amsterdam A836 to Peru. No further details are available.

Ridiculous. Amsterdam is scheduled to be decommissioned in 2014. The ship will be transferred to the Peruvian Navy early in 2015. The RNLN will not have a operational tanker until the new Joint Logistic Support Ship Karel Doorman is scheduled to be commissioned sometime in 2015.

No. At least, I don’t know of any such which would have an S-curve in it (see underneath the circle of the 6 on deck)
Pohang class is a good fit for the Phillippines navy the only major issue I see is they are starting to build a rather mixed fleet of varying elderly types with no doubt different systems and maintenance requirements. Then again beggars can’t be choosey!

Surely the outlines of the hatches would be visible in the photo as thery are on other SSBNs? The finished sub doesn’t look like it has those circular hatches for the SLBM tubes at all as the surface of the tower looks rather too smooth? You would expect some visible circular outlines in the same way that the upper 2 Torpedo hatches are visible?
