Railgun deployment on ships will render the Chinese DF-21D anti-carrier ballistic missile obsolete.

The 127/54 of the LCFs are old guns bought from Canada. They were originally built for the Iroquois-class destroyers in the 1970s.
The “complexity” of the 127/64 makes it the better gun, e.g. faster firing.
So? They are still the same gun as on the Kongo’s… which was the point.
Wondering if MK13 (SM1+Harpoon) capability will be reinstated or … whether gear fitted to ex-USN Gearings, then moved to ex-USN Knoxes will now be fitted to these OHPs (i.e. box mounted SM1, Stir etc), or …. something along the lines of the Turkish or Australian upgrades? Or nothing at all .
China’s new Yuan-class sub seen preparing for sea trials
A new variant of the Type 039C/Type 041 Yuan-class conventional submarine with a raked sail
What is new, exactly?
Very much agree with Jonesy and Yama above: Russia has no need for those vessel. What about army and airforce equipment?
Recently there was a report that the Royal Navy have chosen the BAE System Mk 45 Mod 4 gun for the Type 26 frigate.
http://www.janes.com/article/36180/mk-45-mod-4-gun-in-frame-for-uk-s-type-26-programmeDo they have chosen it because it is better than the Oto Breda 127/64 Lightweight or because it is from a British company?
Interestingly the Japanese navy switched from the OTO Breda 127/54 Compact (Kongo and Takanami class) to the Mk 45 Mod 4 (Atago and Akitsuki class) instead of the 127/64. In contrast the French, German and Italian navy have chosen the 127/64 (perhaps also the Algerian navy for the MEKO 200).
From the technical data the 127/64 appear to be the better gun and also better ammunition is available including Vulcano long range guided ammunition, whereas the ERGM ammunition for Mk 45 failed and was cancelled.
Dutch LCF > Oto 127/54 (like the Kongo’s)
What is SAAB’s capacity to actually enter this kind of market? Even poaching the staff from TKMS it is a huge undertaking to enter the submarine business.
I suppose in an ideal world TKMS would sell that part of the business to Saab and everybody can move on but I could also see them trying to asset strip and shut down instead now the Swedish government have decided to pause procurement.
What capacity does the Swedish government under their law to nationalise the yard if it is for strategic national defence reasons?
Saab Maneuvers To Buy Swedish Submarine Maker
Sweden — three years after selling its national submarine-maker Kockums to Germany’s ThyssenKrupp — is now fighting to wrest control of its indigenous sub-building capability from the German giant.
…
Saab, which maintains that it could quickly create the capacity needed to build and modernize submarines, has declined to comment on market reports that it is engaged in exploratory talks that could see it takeover TKMS’ operations from ThyssenKrupp.
Saab has contended that it could meet the needs to design, build and refit submarines, however, it has declined to comment suggestions that it might take control of the TKMS yard.

A defence source told The Local on Monday that Saab had begun to poach Kockums staff, the latest twist in a standoff, said to threaten Swedish defence capacity, between the Swedish submarine makers and their German owners….
A defence source told The Local at the time that TKMS’s purchase of Kockums had been a long-term strategy to kill off a rival on the market.“The purchase of Kockums wasn’t aimed at consolidating the naval industry and creating synergies, but at getting rid of a competitor,” the German source said in October.
The same source said on Monday that the naval industry was awash with speculation that Saab was poaching staff in order to set up its own submarine unit.

Sweden Blocks Submarine Purchase.
The Swedes are trying to rescue their submarine knowledge base, as TKMS slowly strangles Kockums to death?
Who would buy when there are any number of more modern designs around?
USN of course (those modern designs aren’t made in the USA)
1st Zubr has been commissioned.
I get the impression the Chinese dispensed with the rocket launchers.

Looks like UKSK to me…
Hi,
Great shots!
Do you have photos with the 8 cell vls hatches assembly of the Brahmos? Thanks.

AFAIK it is fired from the Russian 3R-14UKSK-Kh, which is standard in Talwar, Shivalik classes.

the 3R-14UKSK shipboard missile system with its multipurpose weapon-control system is designed to destroy surface, ground and underwater targets by means of the BrahMos (PJ-10), 3M-54E, 3M-14E, and 91RE2 missiles loaded in any combination into a multipurpose missile launcher. Thus, this single system incorporates all the advantages of the Club-N and BrahMos missile systems.
The only other installation I can think of would be that used on the ex-Dutch Van Speijk class frigates in Indonesian (KRI) service to launch Yakhont. However, I’m not sure of its designation. See:

Hi,
I’m looking for a detailed photo of the 8 cell Brahmos cruise missile vertical cells located on the aft twin launcher S-125M (SA-N-1) SAM, as well as a detailed photo of the Barak SAM VLS that replaced a pair of the AK-630M CICWS gun mounts.
I’m thinking to start building a 1/700 scale model of INS Rajput (Kashin II Project 61ME) and I would like to remove the forward P-20M missile cells (port and starboard) and replace them with two boxed launchers housing four PJ-10 (BrahMos)
In this configuration the number of Brahmos missile on board the Rajput Class Missile Destroyers of the Indian Navy will be 12 missiles!
More info on this ships here:

Thanks.

The loss of 2 (or even 4) LHDs would of course be a blow for Russia, but not a catastrophic one. More important is the progress of the shipyard upgrades and other items of technology transfer intended to assist in the regeneration of the Russian Navy over the next 15 years.
And how is that going to happen without the French?

Interesting, the stern modifications relative to Indian navy ships. + getting only AK630 by the looks of that base ring.
