Would anyone pay for it????? there’s not much i can afford on your site as it is….. Seems that the bottom line is the need to avoid direct or close contact with the instruments so a type of glass picture frame around the panel is probably the best approach.
John, you are in luck! I’ve just had a mounting CNC cut as per the AVRO drawings for a Lancaster Wireless operators compartment. If you can PM a contact number I’ll give you the details.
Thanks AM, catch up on Saturday.
Thanks Alan for all your help with this project. The lamps from #123 and your assistance with research at the PRO has allowed us to restore probably the last surviving original wartime heavy bomber maintenance trailer. Your foresight to save these items all those years ago made this happen and no doubt many more projects will come to fruition thanks to the garage that keeps on giving, Thank you.

Hi AM,
If the box of FN5 grips are for sale then i’d be very grateful for a few bits please to assist with the turret restoration. A few bits are seized and with replacement parts we night be able to get it going. Likewise on the pump please.
Thanks
Thanks AM, that’s really good of you. We will make sure someone will be there but I’m hoping to go myself.
Some more info:
The panel with the 2 meters is the control panel off a IFFmk2 system.
Item 3, the grey switch box is so you can listen to the SBA tones on the aircraft intercom system. BA means Beam Approach.
Hi Air Ministry,
Ref Item 2 on #168, its part of the Mk3 IFF set up, so late war, early postwar aircraft i believe.
Just wondering, do you still have the lights on #123 available please? I haven’t managed to positively identify them but I’m sure they wont lookout of place on our wheeled inspection platform restoration.
Thanks

Plenty still to see at RAF Metheringham.
Pretty sure that tiny parachute is used for dropping Sonar buoys from aircraft, but then again you can never tell on this forum. Looking forward to finding out as I had one years ago.
I’ve got an undercarriage leg and wheel available too.
Is the X type white or brown webbing Alan? If it’s the wartime white then I think you might be pleasantly surprised at the value.
I have one located in Lincolnshire which might interest you. It’s in a poor state but can be restored.
Great Heinkel sequences but the film was really let down by the Memphis belle style Spitfire glide at the end. Surely the sudden realism and limited time factor of a forced landing would have added more to the film effect than the soaring seagull.
Still, much better than a night sat watching Corrie…
From the limited info that I’ve managed to find it seems that Yellow roofs etc started to be introduced from the Summer of 1944.
