And Sikorsky says.
“Sikorsky and our All-American supplier team are disappointed … Everyone at Sikorsky Aircraft, as well as our partner companies across the country….
It’s so funny to read this… The only parts produced in US by Sikorsky are kinematics parts (rotor, transmission shaft, blades, etc). The all airframe is being produced by third companies all over the world (Embraer, AIDC,Gamesa, etc), as risk-shearing partners, that means they asume design and manufacturing of their part the project.
US101 airframe is supposed to be produced within lockheed facilities. Wich of the two projects has more “made in US” or even “designed in US” parts? Not so easy to answer…
Bad news indeed. π

Luxembourg has ordered one A400M. Sounds strange as the country has no air force. I suppose that it will be operated by the Belgian air force.
Buying A400M gives Luxembourg rights to industrial offsets, as currently occuring with South Africa. AFAK, the country is not involved in the program. They may have reach an economical agreement with Belgium to give them back industrial participation. Anybody knows???
According to Reuters, EADS has start negotiation to sell eight A400M to South Africa. If SA finally buys the aircrafts, local compagnies could manufacture parts of the aircraft for the all fleet. SA has to take his decision within the end of the year.

You can download it using NetTransport. (37 Mo)
NetTransport is free, and AFAIK, it’s the only one “download manager” able to download streaming (wma, wmv or rm files)
Aluminium doesn’t weld well. Steel does.
You’re right, but it’s not so simple.
Serie 6000 alloys are used for welded structure (like in moutain bike frame).
Using rivets, cou can use Serie 2000 or even Serie 7000 who have far better strength.
Some fuselage panels of the A318 have the stiffeners welded to the skin.
There was two TV series. The first one was during 70s, with mirage III , and the last one at the end of the 80s, with Mirage 2000, jaguar, and even swiss F-18.
I donΒ΄t know this so old french TV series reach Canada.
The good guy will have Mirage 2000-5. We may see a few Rafale anyway.
M-2000D has got an charf/flare dispenser at the midle of the dorsal spine (One at each side of the spine). This is endeed the easiest way to distinguish 2000D and 2000N, as they share the same camo, and part of the 2000N fleet has been convert to 2000Nk2 standart in order to use conventional A/G weapons.
This dispenser is an original feature, not a modification. Obviously, such smoke is not produce par the dispenser.
Canada seems to have been forced to buy H-92:
“The Canadian federal government concealed the fact last week that it was forced to buy Sikorsky helicopters to replace its fleet of Sea Kings after the only other competitor in the $5-billion race had been previously disqualified on technical grounds, sources say.”
Works fine now.
Thanks. π
