Sssh don’t tell the women I said so – their mobiles are bugged/hacked by their fickle husbands who are having more than a little n..kie with the you know who, and wish to know where their wives are (location sensing of mobiles is I guess nearly equivalent to bugging/hacking – invasion of privacy):)

Hence shouting by women on mobiles becomes essential to override the bugging/hacking/location sensing:D

On the other hand maybe it’s their hair style getting in the way of their hearing hence the automatic reaction of shouting. Observe if it is the case of women with no hair covering their ears.

Why not a statutory visa period related charge at port of entry

This should not affect EU citizens who can get E111 or equivalent and treatment at reciprocating NHS/state hospitals.

It concerns Non EU citizens who knowingly come to the UK to benefit from the as yet excellent free NHS treatment but can /may encompass Non EU citizens caught up in an accident of some sort.

Either way for Non EU citizens unless travelling on business (employer must pick up any health care costs or cost of immediate return air fare) there should be control of entry with a charge at UK port of entry or valid stamp endorsing tourist entry visa by British/UK High Commission or Embassy confirming payment at the time of issue of visa of the equivalent fee.

Extensions of visa will incur chargeable health care costs in increments of a calendar month.

Any unused periods of a UK entry visa in increments of calendar months can be refunded at UK port of departure.

I personally don’t see this as being something that cannot be brought in quite rapidly by implementing new UK legislation.

The fees would be advertised alongside visa requirements and be mandatory.

All private health insurance policies taken out by travelers would be unwieldy to administer primarily because verification of their authenticity would be almost impossible by Border Control authorities.

Any bona fide private health insurance polices may however re-imburse individual travellers for costs incurred if they opt to have private health care in the UK but this would be a private arrangement and not be a matter for Border Control. However the standard statutory UK visa period related charge would apply irrespective of any private insurance.

Yes airlines and travel agents will howl initially but after a few years of it being in place it would be simply de – facto.

Since that KAL A380 is probably going in and out of many busy airports I sincerely hope that it is given a complete check quite soon (all Toulose technology that is portable or back to Toulouse) as ‘metal fatigue’ in hidden areas can be initiated/catalysed by such a visibly superficial incident but can have long term repercussions.

That is why we hopefully don’t see guys testing aircraft structures like they did the wheels of railway locos and carriages (may still do) with a large metal hammer/mallet.

As somebody already stated in this thread ‘Fly By Wire’ has made some pilots so ‘laid back’ that the flight crew appear to simply go along for the ride.

Ralph, Bmused55, KabirT and Threespool advancements imply continuous testing and reporting but not to irresponsible sensationalist journalists (no personal offence meant to Ralph or KabirT).

The testing goes on through early customers and model variations and now thank goodness in many cases ‘real time’ monitoring and recording (in some cases for ever).

I can vouch for this from my days in defence projects still ‘afloat’ (nice pun) where some of my former colleagues are still supporting the ‘real time’ software and like me are sealed by their NDAs (journalists take a hike – you get zilch even on the pain of death)

Fly by wire as decision support in Civil will be the only priority order it should remain in my lifetime given the forward road-maps in both civil aircraft and firmware/software. People like MO’L and some national carriers/LCCs in countries where human life is not considered valuable may go for standing seats or one or no pilot (ie chief steward/stewardess in LH and/or RH Seat) but God Help us if they are permitted to get in to and out of EU airports.

Hi Sandy please see these stats (my charts from Chris Brady’s data)

Hi Sandy please see these stats (my charts from Chris Brady’s data)
It appears Boeing 737 NG (600, 700 and 800) are doing nicely thank you so you and I can breathe again.:D
(It’s the ‘greedy/cheapo – no quality maintenance ‘plonkers’ operating some of the older 737s way past their cycles, that are ‘dipping’ the stats)
The stats I would like but never likely to get them are Serial Numbers, Date of original ownership, Date/s of change of ownership, and then to compare under whose ownership event/incident/tragedy occurs.

    Anyway here goes –

    Threespool,
We will be off thread topic if we continue this here, but yes they did drop out after many erroneous auto corrections.
Immediate take back control (auto pilot and auto thrust) by flight crew is what must happen when something as fundamental as speed displays goes ‘t.ts up’.Try it for real, up 35,000 feet, fly at similar speed, throw something over your speed display ( a paper napkin) and arrest control (auto pilot and auto thrust) with no warning, will you crash ? – I hope not as otherwise you aren’t learning the basics of being a good pilot. End of off thread.

    I
Methinks some very heavy pruning needs to be done at Management level, many are just not needed, how they justify their salery I havn’t a clue, and if truth be told, I bet they can’t either.

    Jim
I wonder if they stood all the managers shoulder to shoulder along the coast of UK whether they would stretch around it’s entire length? They would make enough wind power (hot air) by staying there? 😑
Likewise I wonder if the competent clinical staff (ethical doctors and nurses devoid of political unionised bias) would turn Aneuryn Bevan’s dream back into a practical reality, while the managers are all blowing off hot air?
