Not to that extent, but there were numerous Aerospatiale and Westland proposals for stub-wing tandem-seat attack variants of the Lynx. None of them were ever pursued.
Likewise there was a rather hideous Bo-115 attack variant proposed based on the Bo-105, which made it as far as a full-scale mock-up. It would have been quite a mover.
Outside manufacturer brochures the Apache seldom hauled that many ATGMs anyhow, particularly on the power of the early T700 engines.
I don’t think it was that hideous…

Could this aircraft be a replacement for the A-37 Dragonfly in south America?
I know the super tucano is becoming quite popular but this one is just hitting the scene.

🙂
That was exactly the aircraft I was thinking of at first. I keep forgetting that the F-35 is also named the Lightning. But Hampden98 is right. Send up a couple of those English Electric Lightning’s and you probably would have the Russians guessing….
What business do they have bombing bosnia & libya anyway?
It seems that you did not read the rest of my post. Go back and read it again, the answer was within it…
Philippines will spend more than $100 million to buy eight Bell 412 helicopters.
While its own navy waits, Canada sells military helicopters to the Philippines
I don’t understand why selling 8 Bell 412’s has any bearing on the acquisition of the Sikorsky naval helicopters?
I don’t know. The general momentum in current Canadian weapons procurement strategy seems to favour EU gear: British submarines, German Leopards…
Interestingly, Trappier (Dassault’s CEO) seems rather confident in pushing for a Canadian sale despite being completely aware that when a country is committed to the F-35 it generally sticks to it whatever how things evolves. His answers to the AIN journalist’s questions between 1:10 and 6:30 are rather interesting: http://tv.dassault-aviation.com/2013-annual-results-questions-answers-1056-en.html
We are also looking at the French FREMM class ships as possible replacements for our Halifax class. Maybe the French think this might also be an opportunity to sell some fighters.
I agree that we are in the F-35 program for the long haul. But when our gov’t changed parties the last time, they cancelled the EH-101 deal saying it would save money so who knows!
Air Force leaders defend move to retire popular ‘Warthog’ plane
With them recently buying new wings for the A-10. Would they release these aircraft for sale to friendly nations?
Or would they at least recycle the GAU-8 Avenger for other projects?
Hi Voodoo, I only say that’s an Italian AV-8B and not a Spanish one.
For the rest of my reply, I must admit that the joke is not as good as I thought at first.
Sorry it was a quick reply…. Now that I have reread your post, I see what you meant by it. Cheers.
Hi 1batfastard,
It’s a Harrier II+ of Italian Navy (see green-white-red roundels) or, maybe, a Spanish F-18 that thinks it is an Italian AV-8B.:)
Archangelski, I think he was referring to the false canopy painted on the underside. Canadian CF-18’s are known to do that.
I really like the Thud… An amazing aircraft.
I think the P-26 Peashooter was painted like this!
Well the Canadian air force used a lot of outdated aircraft in that time frame but here they are.

In this year’s LAAD show the Saab booth showed an impressive 1/72 scale mockup of the forward end of the Brazilian Aircraft carrier São Paulo with a number of Sea Gripens on its deck….

you need spend less time sound sillly and more time being real.
I think you should practice what you preach!
I wonder if South Africa’s Gripens would be considered?
