How true is the part about the birds? I mean….. once the bird is near enough to the engine to see the spiral painted on the fan hub wont it already be in the process of being sucked through the engine??????????????
Are they selling the aircraft at knock-down prices?
“the optimum would be to reduce the weight as much as possible”
So true… if only we could replace landing gear!
It’s true… they cant offer anything better. The shortness of the flights means that the aircraft never fly at their optimum cruise for very long to give good fuel economy. Thats why airlines can still operate old 737’s and still remain profitable. The real cost saver comes in maintenance… the newer aircraft are mose maintenance friendly which saves cash. In the future, fuel economy won’t be improved upon by very much. You can operate the 787 on short haul if you want… and the fuel bill wont be much different to a 737-400’s.
This is also the reason why the mail landing gear wheels are left uncovered by a door on the 737. It does cause drag… and fuel economy could be increased if there was a door… but… because the aircraft spends most of it’s life flying in conditions which are not optimum… the drag is barely noticable… and for what you’d save… it’d be cheaper to have the engineers go for a coffee break rather than design a door!
I just hope they clear up the city and stop rioting soon…..I’m due to be there a week on friday :S:S:S:S:S:S:S:S

I’m working as an electrician at the moment…. so…. Electrocuting myself is number one on my list… I’m always extra careful to ensure the circuits are dead though… better to be paranoid than dead I guess.

I’d use electric trains… fuelled of course by nuclear power stations as they’re the only real effective solution to cutting CO2 emissions. Renewables aren’t effective enough to do the job.
Buy a bicycle might be a good thing to do aswell… However… when car companies realise that oil is going to run out soon…. lots of research will go into improving electric cars… and we’ll be able to go on as normal.

I took our households name off the fax register…. it was getting daft…. we got something like 10 – 15 calls a day… all junk faxes…. and then… when we just put the phone down to unaccept them… they called in the middle of the night to try again…. this we cured by turning off the phone at nights…. but they still came during the day! Saved hell of a lot of paper stopping those!

Last book I finished was Rainbow 6… which I enjoyed immensely… Currently half way through The Bear and The Dragon.
The most entertaining books I have ever read are Tom Clancy’s “Red Storm Rising”… Dan Browns “The Da Vinci Code” and Michael Crichtons “Prey”
I’ve had a go at Dale Browns books too… I quite enjoy them… but then again… I’m easily pleased when it comes to books!

The cabbage gun was cool…. but not as good as building the armoured car from a couple of taxis! How many times did they build an armoured car? Has been one of the longest jokes ever….. that the A-Team can build an armoured car from a rusty ironing board and a go kart!
