The cabbage gun was cool…. but not as good as building the armoured car from a couple of taxis! How many times did they build an armoured car? Has been one of the longest jokes ever….. that the A-Team can build an armoured car from a rusty ironing board and a go kart!

Flying is incredibly safe. According to Antonio Bordonis book about air accidents, there are around 2000 deaths in air crashes in aircraft over 15 tonnes every year. This is tiny compared to the number killed on the roads, as mentioned above. On another note… there were 1000 murders in the UK last year.

Thanks! Was just wondering… I’ve never seen a carrier moving before… and it was close to the shore… without any visible escorts.

It’s something to do with the moon having a slightly elliptical orbit… so at certain times, the moon is closer to the earth. The Earth definitely has an elliptical orbit around the sun… that’s why the sun appears bigger sometimes. The closest the earth gets to the sun is around 92 million miles, the furthest 94 million miles.

One thing I never understood from this film is…. in the beginning… this “advanced species” of alien was studying us for years…. then they attack us and end up catching diseases and dying… surely the aliens have diseases in their worlds… and surely they’d have checked to see what diseases existed on this world before they came here!

Some Masters students at my university were given a project to design an airship capable of carrying a number of armoured vehicles into battle…. not sure how well it would work…. what with enemy air defences filling it with holes…. and if you can only use it when there is no opposition… then a ship would do nicely!

Mine would have to be a 1929 New Standard D-29… back in 2002 at Kermit Weeks’ Fantasy of Flight museum. After that….. it’s probably a Beech 76 Duchess.
