Can you make the aisle narrower? Or is there an international standard aisle width??

“Just saying that “if” the seats are indeed wider, I doubt us Joe Public types will not benefit from it”

I have heard a stories of people used to flying on 737’s, then getting on A320’s and noticing the extra inch per seat you get.

The A300 delivery figures increase ever so slowly! They’re mostly cargo examples. The A310 figures don’t increase any more… the 5 outstanding ones were the ones ordered by Iraqi airways I think… and never got delivered. Something like that anyway!

Drop in to an Armed Forces careers office… and have a chat I think is the best way to start.

Looks like radar to me…. similar shape to that thimble type on the tail boom of SAR Sea Kings. Probably wrong though… not sure!

Is the bit about the wing tanks true? I thought the J had more range than the K without the need for external tanks because of the improved engine efficiency.

I think it’s a CF6… would be great if we could find someone to confirm it!

“I can prove it’s a PW2000 Series engine, right down the the number of blades ont he compressor fan…and the ring that connects the blades togeter”

I still disagree… I’m sticking with my CF6 guess…. in your pic there are 36 blades on the fan, in the initial pic there are 38. Also in your pic, there are only 6 screws on the hub, on the initial pic there are 12. I’ve looked at a pic of a CF6, which has 38 blades and 12 screws. Damn I sound boring!!

The ring which connects the blades together as you say… doesn;t connect the blades together by the way. It is a protrusion from the front and back of each blade. They touch, but in no way are the blades connected together… the blades need to be able to flex when in use, so they are not connected.

My guess is a CF-6. I have seen pictures of CF-6’s with the blunt spinner. For one thing it’s definitely not a RR product, on the fan blades there are protrusions from the front and back faces. this is to stop the blades from striking each other. RR don’t use these, they use wide chord blades instead.

They do from time to time. I heard some stories from a RR employee… he’s seen IA2500’s suck all the tools out of a mechanics toolbox followed by the toolbox… and the engine was still in one piece! There’s also a story of a man going through an engine… but it was entirely the poor guys fault… he was trying to cross a runway on a moped, when an A320 was landing… he wasn’t quick enough and got sucked straight up off the moped and into the engine.

Powerful things jet engines… anone remember the story of a US Navy guy who got sucked into the engine of an A-7? He survived because the intake shrank insude the fuselage, so he got stuck. Lucky!!

Can’t see the point in a stealthy aircraft carrier…. a carrier is used for power projection…. I.e. everyone knows it’s there and is scared of it… so no-one does anything to upset anyone on board. If the carrier is stealthy… it’s harder for people to know it’s there… so the impact of power projection is lost.

I’m a quarter Polish… and that doesn’t mean I’m related to Mr Sheen! An Orlik is a Polish built turboprop powered two seat trainer aircraft… the Polish Air force use it as a primary trainer. I have no idea how you’d get a flight in one… without joining the polish air force… but then again… I guess you could try going up to a base commander with a fistfull of Zloty!

After a brief recce of the house… no-one notices GZYL hiding in a camera blind spot…. his plan is to wait there until everyone else has left… by which point he will be the last person in the house… and so will claim the cash!!!

While sitting there contemplating how fantastic his plan is…. he thinks what Channel 4 or E4 would do if he went on hunger strike live on air for….. say Free Tibet… or Save the Whales!
