That would be an aeroplane with all its paint off and showing a bit too much of the undercarriage?
oohhhh, but when they open their access panels…. :diablo:
Was the F86 in belleviile repainted recently?? Also the one at Brockville needs to have that tree cut back
As Mike pointed out, the Belleville Sabre was indeed refurb’d 20 years ago – she’s just not holding up well – specially the sign-vinyl markings. Additionally the canopy is crazed and there’s a significant amount of corrosion on the underside of the fuselage near the empennage break. (But the landing lights still have bulbs in them.)
We’re lucky to still have the Sabre on the Brockville waterfront. When the problem with mounting plate was discovered, debate was raised on whether or not to move it to the Brockville airport (where really no one would see it).
Here’s another one ‘nearby’… CT-133 Silver Star at the Royal Canadian Air Force Association mess in Cornwall, ON.
The Sabre at Zwick’s Island in Belleville was repainted late 80’s or early 90’s. I’m not sure what work has been done since.
As in Centennial Park (off Bay Bridge Rd.)? If thats the bird I posted, she doesn’t look like she’s seen a touch of care in decades… but yes, she was refurb’d in ’87 (a couple more detail shots attached.)
Sabres anyone??
A couple original RCAF Golden Hawks Sabres I shot this past August.
First in Belleville, Ontario – she’s as original as the day she went on the post in ’67 (and looking really the worst for wear)
Second on the Waterfront at Brockville, Ontario… this one was somewhat recently ‘fixed-up’ – primarily due to the fact that the mount had corroded and she was beginning to ‘weathercock’ on her plinth.

This is great- thanks! Does anybody have a clear image of the badge on the rear of the fuselage?
I had posted these on the previous Small Air Forces Thread..

I’d eat it – but only if it had been stored in the freezer from prior to the expiry date to present – thaw it and then cook it all.

I must admit to being a bit naive regarding spyware etc… having tried one ‘anti-spyware’ gizmo some years ago which caused more garbage to occur than had been occurring…
I tried Viper’s link for the ‘superantispyware thingy’ and well, I must say, I’m impressed!… 137 threats found (including 3 worms and a trojan horse downloader) all satisfactorily handled.
Regarding browsers, I have to admit that I do not like Explorer (takes seemingly forever to load) nor Navigator (just doesn’t work like I remember when I started out on a Mac all those years ago).
I’ve been on XP for the last 5 years and switched to Firefox about a year ago upon recommendation from a friend who works in IT for one of our city organizations and I can now say that I really am enjoying my web-browsing experience…. now to get rid on the incessant fishing emails coming into my h’mail acc’t (its a backup – I live on gmail, not a single fish – and only 3 ‘spams’ in almost a year now)

This “picture” is well known.
The aerobatics team never flew the Alpha.
only the L-29 until they were replaced by the K-8.
hmmm.. regarding the Alpha… I was forwarded a copy of an EAF ‘Silver Stars’ brochure (2004 or later) which states – and I quote (not my grammar) “In 1984 the team has been set up of six Alphajets, then has been increased to nine Aircraft’s the next year, in addition to the single Aircraft.” The particular page in question does show one photo of a 4-ship formation of camouflaged L-29s and then a 9 ship formation of Alphas (although it does look suspiciously like the Patrouille de France complete with red, white and blue smoke)
Please feel free to send me a PM to discuss, I’d really like to find more information regarding this Team.

Holi-whats???
My combined self- and partial-employment doesn’t really lend itself to holiwhatsits… but, I’m still working on a quick 4-5 day jaunt over to that side of the pond (west-country) in July just for RIAT. Then perhaps a week-long road trip to Virgina in September for the NAS Oceana airshow.
My total escape to the ‘Nam will have to wait yet another year.

Egypt Alphas
Best I can do, a thumb-nail from the Egyptian Air Force website (as well as the Egypt Daily News)..
I’m still hoping for shots of the aerobatic team flying the Alphas (which they did) as well as the L-29s
Mark12:
The image is indeed genuine (taken by the local undertaker, no pun intended!) Due to the pint size of Lake Elsinore, the Mars was landed within 100 ft of the approach end of the lake in order have a chance at grabbing a 50% load….an extremely demanding locale to operate a large, heavily loaded aircraft. Another (similar) shot is attached.
Mk1

HOLY MOTHER OF… I don’t think I’d want to be on the receiving end of that 50% load… I’m only imagining pebbles, stones, etc. picked up and falling like a shot-gun blast… choices, choices… burn me or stone me…. still gotta love the big beauty!
Belgium registered, where is it and who operated it and what was its fate!!!
I think, if you take a look back at Fouga23’s posted link, you will find the most likely operator of this Stirling and perhaps even an eventual operator.
