THIS IS…WHERE THAT ISRAEL MAKES HER ATOMIC BOM’S (THE BLACK)

IM SORRY I DONT KNOW HOW 2 upload PIC’

Slow down here!… First, please refrain from using CAPS when typing your posts, this only leads to an implication of extreme emphatics and anger.

    Now, addressing the images
    A) please don’t crop off the Lat/Long coordinates on the Google Earth images – we would all like the opportunity to look them up… (this is Southwest of Dimona)
    and
    B) most importantly, while Dimona may or may not be the Israeli nuclear test facility, there is certainly no visual proof in this image to suggest a ‘nuke’ site. Do you have any proof of nuke weapons development on this site? If so please share. To me, this is nothing more than an agricultural site… the irregularity of the ‘black lines’ looks to be no more than a vineyard.

And the latter two images are of a dirigible (blimp) – some considerable distance Southeast of Dimona… several organizations (including the US DoD) have pursued the mounting or radar and other sensors on this type of ‘airframe’ for security/surveillance purposes – Elbit included, if I remember correctly. The presence of this airship does not necessarily indicate the this is a ‘nuke’ development site.

Oh, and “BOM” is spelled bomb

one could almost think it was designed in order to create these headaches for all those future generations of scale modelers! I’ve never had the patience to even attempt this type of finish (which is why my ESCI Viggen sits incomplete).

I’m assuming that the second, lighter, colour combination would have been applied to the lower wings of biplanes. This would be similar in effect to the RAF countershading on Furies, Swordfish and Gladiators, where those areas that would normally be shaded by the upper wings were painted a lighter shade in an effort to conteract the shadows.

Another potential source for information on this would be any of Ian Huntley’s greatly insightful missives on colour and camouflage… I’ve managed to save many of his articles from Scale Aircraft Modelling for just that purpose.

Way back in 1989, Fine Scale Modeler (US) published an excelent article by Bill Gebhard in the subject of this ‘lozenge’ camouflage – which was printed on the fabric prior to application to the airframe. In particular, Mr. Gebhard dealt with colour selection and painting the patterns with home-made stencils.

I’ve included the patterns here as well as his conclusions on colour matching and available modelling paints… the following colours refer to the letters on the patterns (the descriptions are his own).

    Upper Surface
Base Colour Dark Bluish Grey FS.35164
    A Medium Grey Green FS.34227
    B Medium Yellowish Tan FS.30257
    C Dark Bluish Gren FS.34058

    Lower Surface
Base Colour Medium Bluish Grey FS.35237
    A Medium pinkish tan FS.31433
    B Light Yellowish tan FS.33613
    C Medium Bluish Gren FS.34325

    Available Paints
    FS.30257 – Floquil Military (300191), Humbrol (HM02), Polly S (500820)
FS.31433 – Polly S Desert Pink (500810) toned down with grey
    FS.33613 – Floquil Military (300195), Gunze-Sangyo (H138), Humbrol (148), Pactra Acrylic (A28), Testor Model Master (1709), Xtracolor (X107)
FS.34058 – Polly S Jungle Green (500050) darkend with black
    FS.34227 – Gunze-Sangyo (H312), Humbrol (IAF2), Testor Model Master (1716)
FS.34325 – No matches… his recipe: 3 parts Testor 1168 Flat White, 3 parts Testor 1164 Olive Drab, 1 part Testor 1172 flat sea blue.
    FS.35164 – Floquil Military (300180), Gunze-Sangyo (H56), Humbrol (HU16), Pactra Acrylic (A36), Polly S (500804), Testor Model Master (1720), Xtracolor (X125)

I hope this helps a bit.

    PakAF request

I’m looking for any photos (and info) of the Aerobatic team ‘Sherdils’ and their predecessors. If anyone has pics of the ‘Tigers’ F-6 (MiG-19) team that would be truely amazing.

FYI, the primary guideline of this thread is real photos of real aircraft, not CG or Photoshopped photos of real aircraft. 8)

with regards to the ‘Syrian’ Sukhoi… everyone please note… as posted elsewhere on this board by the Mods… no posting ACIG material without proper prior consent from the authors/photographers/illustrators.

I’m simply curious to see any photos anyone may have from the show… My ex-wife’s late father (a local Rotarian) was somewhat enthusiatic about the Southport show and always wanted me to come across to see it. Unfortunately, all I ever got was a stop at the gate for a photo of the Phantom.

Scouse… please do me the honour of hoisting a pint of Worthingtons in the general direction of Southport at the nearest possible convenience.

    a) best: a tie… Mirage F.1 and Heinkel 177 (excluding the Mega-rivets)

    b) worst: again a tie… MiG 15 and Me (Bf) 110…. simply described – wrong!

    c) most built: Harrier GR.3…(6 of them) simply exceptional!

Something to note… while I’ve always gone out of my way to buy and build the Airfix kits, the majority have been purchased here in North America during the early/mid 80s under the MPC brand – IIRC a previous ‘dangerous’ period in Airfix history when all mouldings were produced by Heller.

Can anyone else attest to the pathetic plastic quality in that time-frame? When the least amount out sanding/rescribing caused a significant ‘de-lamination’?

    strange indeed!!

someone has gone through a ton of time to copy all those photos and then photoshop any and all markings out… here’s what the original of one of those shots looks like…

the wing sweep looks a little too agressive for a MiG-17… perhaps Shenyang A-5 Fantan – but usually seen in green/brown/sand camo

If you want a very ugly dassault design, browse “Etendard IV” on google… 🙂
I think Ouragan , Mystere II and IV were ugly.

non, non, non – mon dieu!… there, now I can take the beret off…

while there have been some rather interesting and, yes not overly attractive, designs come out of France, the Etendard is certainly NOT ugly… the sleek symetrical sweep of the wings and tail, perfectly proportioned curves of her intakes, the delicately chiselled nose magestically pointed skyward… urging us… allez-y!

and the Mystere was one of the greatest pin-up girls of her time… beauty is in the eye of the beholder – and every year or decade dictates the ‘in look’. One must appreciate these beauties for the gems that they were/are/will be.

but personnaly – for French curves and elegance – I’ll still follow a Mirage F.1 anywhere she wants me to go… the 2000s and Rafales don’t hold a candle to my ‘cheri’.

something that bears mentioning… the L-39 carries an ‘N-number’ (N439RS) in addition to the AF modex… sematics time, is it really an air force bird?

The FAA says that aircraft L-39C – s/n 131907 belongs to one Mr. Richard Sugden or Wilson, Wyoming
