OK gang,
enjoy these… my buddy shot these on a flight to/from Santo Domingo/Port au Prince. First 2 are on approach to SD, the next 3 are on the way back to PauP. No one on board the civie Let410 (they were in) knew anything ’til the TCAS went off and my buddy started looking!
Got some other neat UN stuff in PauP – coming at you later

Press,
I’m with you on the running… Rotor blade weight… (see the Hind – same rotor design)… check out the slight blur on the both main (closest tip) and tail rotors (high shutter will freeze – minimal blur, flat disk – Mi-2), the dust cloud receding beyond the boom (visually under) and approaching the photographer and immediately under the nose. As for occupants… I certainly don’t see any (even after contrast manipulation). Could be winding down and pilot is already out of the seat and heading through cabin…

asas de portugal
Great drawing! But with one minor mistake. The serial should read 15250, not 58.
Abraços
Ahhh,,
I wish I could remember the full quote but therein…”lies the rub” (and not the massage parlors of Ho Chi Minh City – thats another story) The real joys of the artists life… one can only replicate what one sees. I can recognize past years’ efforts by the squadron to field a demonstration team, but while it can be understood that an operational squadron cannot necessarily dedicate a pair of aircraft to a team, my past photo references (camo years) predominantly show ‘208 and ‘218 operate as the pair and ‘247 in back-up. However, unless someone at the Portuguese air force has altered the photos they post to their web site …, then ‘258 is indeed one of the aircraft newly painted for the Asas.
Humbly I type – I draw what I see.. But thank you for the feedback – it is greatly appreciated

Sadly this is how one of the Sabres finished 🙁
IS that one of the former team aircraft??? It certainly looks golden yellow under the camo.
3 more photos of the “Flying Stars” and one rare photo of F-86 Sabre Aerobatic Team showing the underside paint job.
all I can say is WOW! that one Sabre shot certainly alters anyone’s ‘views’ of the Sabre team – where did you find that?!?! This week’s top reward is yours! (unfortunately we have to wait ’til I get to Serbia or you get to Canada – but beers all ’round – oh and hopefully I make it that way in the next year or so, I do have a habit of going off to countries no one thinks about for tourism (especially coming out of Canada) – Philippines once, Vietnam twice, and Europe is like the back yard – so don’t go dry in the meantime on my account)
BEERS!! 😉
Oh yeah…
Just in case anyone was interested… this is what I do for a living… I am a graphic designer an this is one of my clients… so if you’re in the Ottawa area check it out… CF-18, Snowbirds, USAF Heritage flight (F-16/P-51), Hurricane, B-25 and local Spitfire XVI, Mustang, Harvard, Harvard II, Staggerwing and then some…. small field – great fun.
BTW, my services are available.. just send me a PM, I’ll get back to you.

Oops, that one screwed up – how ‘ bout now?
OK, OK, so I did say the new Asas de Portuagal moved up the list…
So, here it is… just a few minor fixes and she’s complete.
Bear with me on the website… work still calls!
OK, so slightly outside the realm of this thread – but well worth the acknowledgment…

we may not have the budget… but what we do, we do right!
Beautiful! I’ve seen some pics of them but never seen at name mentioned.
Thank you! Do they have a team emblem – I’m assuming they operate as part of the training structure.

Chile had many unofficial aerobatic teams, using different aircraft until the ’60s decade, where it was created the Cóndores de Plata team, flying F-80s. In 1981 it was created Escuadrilla de Alta Acrobacia Halcones, with Pitts S2A & S2S; these aircraft were traded in by Extra 300s in 1990, and these were subsequently replaced by Extra 300Ls in 2002.
I’ve seen one photograph of the Condores 4-ship formation – I get the impression there were many other teams formed by various Chilean squadrons at different times – very much like the ‘gold old days’ in the RAF and even here in the RCAF – when almost every squadron had a team.
Thanks DJ,
and dont worry about the image quality – i’ve worked with far worse
I’m attaching the only image I’ve ever seen of the Yugoslavian Sabre team. Aparently these aircraft made their way to Honduras (I believe) in the late 70s/early 80s
OOPS! Typo Alert, the Fumaça ilustration you posted above says “de Fumaça” when it should read “da Fumaça”! 🙂 Great art job by the way! Post mor images!
Regards,
Hammer
Thanks Hammer, proof-readers always welcome! Not to worry about more images – the new Asas de Portugal have indeed moved up my list and are in production now. Also prepped and soon to roll (for Fumaca fans) early and late Tucano schemes and T-25 Universal)
Gradually getting these into a website and will have that posted here as well
Asas de Portugal
WOW!!! Now that’s sooo much nicer than the camo Alphas. I think thats moving up my next project list! Thanks
