Flashback…. 😀
What a shocking news! Heart attack at 23! He had so much to give…. Only few days back I was thinking what happened to this aviation enthusiast, why he is not posting any more! Really sad news. RIP Harish.
Rahul/Nirav
Amazing a simple answer always gets a long War and Peace type response without any facts. Again.
I started reading both posts and gave up andgot bored.
This has now moved on from a discussion and into personal attacks, which I will not engage in.
We have nowmoved froma debate into personal attacks, the JF-17 and Pakistan! Wow.
Also, as for BR enjoying a higher reputation then AFM you really are playing with fire here linking a aviation enthusiasts site and comparing it to ne were dergoatory racial terms are the norm.
Another attempt to derail the thread! 🙁
Rahul, Nirav, Teer and others please stop answering to Rimmer in this thread. He is leading towards unusual trolls.
Same question could be asked of Indias attempt at an indigenous AWACS which also went down killing all onboard – doesn’t make the question any more reasonable.
India was not making another ‘Erieye’. And is not the country who hopes to pass everything to the Chinese want! There are certain international rules and understandings are there about transfer of weapon systems specially WMD and missiles that India and other countries need to obey. There are also End User Agreement (EUA) and Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) etc etc….

Sour grapes I detect. Maybe you notice the Chinese have launched KJ 200, oh yea it was copied before PAF got hands on it. Chinese are good.
Which grapes are sour? for whom?
Why do you think that KJ 200 = Erieye? In case ‘if’ they are similar than why Pakistan went for Erieye instead of KJ 200 which China already launched?
Adding another four years to 2013 i.e. by 2017 we may see the MMRCA in IAF service.

Satara (Mah), Dec 28 (PTI) The Indian Air Force will complete flight test evaluation for the medium multi-role combat aircraft (MMRCA) by April next year, Air Chief Marshal Pradeep Naik said.
“We will complete flight test evaluation for these aircraft by April…the report would then be sent to the government,” the Air Chief told PTI.
The IAF has been holding trials for its USD 10-billion Medium Multi-Role Combat Aircraft tenders in which US’ Boeing and Lockheed Martin, French D’Assault, Swedish SAAB, European consortium EADS and Russian MiG are contenders.
“The evaluation report would be discussed by the Cabinet Committee on Security, after which the process of awarding contract would be initiated,” he said.
“The aircraft would be in service by 2013,” he added.

It’s cool!
Enjoy this. Close or what!? :dev2:
Cool pic. F-16 is the most advanced fighter in PAF’s service for next decade atleast, if they don’t buy another new western fighter. It will through a definite challenge to the IAF’s air dominance. I wish the IAF is well prepared to take this challenge. :diablo:
The last information is:
The taxi trials were performed by prototype called “Комплексный Натурный Стенд”, which may be translated as “comprehensive real testbed”. There are also a flyable prototype T-50-1 and a static strength test prototype T-50-0. According to another information T-50 is smaller than Su-27, will have 10 internal weapon stations, have thrust to weight ration of 1,4, the wing has lots of devices. PAK-FA is called to be definitely superior to F-22. :dev2:
Yes according to some sources they have built three prototypes for ground and initial flight tests.
the wing has lots of devices.
Control surfaces? or active/passive sensors?
PAK-FA is called to be definitely superior to F-22. :dev2:
😎
The plane – Airbus (A310-300) – was gifted to former military ruler and president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf by the Amir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani.
the plane gifted by the Amir of Qatar, does have any special feature for VIP transport? was it gifted by the Amir for airlines uses or VIP transport?
Navy gets shipyard to build new subs
Posted: Friday , Dec 25, 2009 at 0259 hrs New Delhi:Days after the Indian Navy conveyed its concerns regarding a depleting submarine to the Defence Acquisition Council, Defence Ministry’s highest decision making body on procurements, a key shipyard has been transferred to the ministry for the construction of conventional and nuclear submarines. The Indian submarine fleet is expected to halve by 2012 as the Navy phases out older generation boats even as shopping for new submarines is hampered by the “extreme shortage” of shipyards.
The Navy currently has 16 Russian and German origin submarines as against the sanctioned fleet strength of 24. Half of these will reach the end of their service life by 2012. In fact, the Navy still operates two Foxtrot submarines that were inducted in 1970’s and have far surpassed their service lives. The mainstay of Navy’s submarine fleet are the 10 Kilo Class boats, which are being slowly upgraded in Russia.
The Navy desperately needs new submarines but only six Scorpene submarines, the first of which will not enter service before 2012, are on order. A separate order for six more Scorpene boats, which will arrive after 2017, had been temporarily put off due to shortage of shipyards.
The Navy, sources said, had expressed its inability to find a shipyard for construction of a second line of submarines as all shipyards it has are fully booked. Scorpene submarines are being built at Mazgaon Docks Limited in Mumbai. With the Cabinet clearance given to the transfer of Vishakhapatnam’s Hindustan Shipyard to Defence Ministry, the Navy’s plans for building new submarines will now resume.

Impotent policy makers in MoD lead to such a situation. They not only lack futuristic plans but also very slow in procurement policies with minimum utilization of money allocated. The IN should buy second line submarine on fast track and the number should be atleast 10. A JV would be better but currently situation is so bad that they have to buy one. It should be capable of firing Brahmos. The IN needs atleast two submarines per year produced by the Indian shipyards.
Sorry, but this last sentence makes me suspicious about this info’s reliability !
Is far as I know, the PAK-FA = T-50 … but the Article 701 is or better was something completely different beast from Mikoyan and once planned as a successor to the MiG-31.
Deino
They reporter must have galvanized different projects.
I guess though Sukhoi is the primary developer, MiG is also part of the development under UAC. They are contributing with their bests.
There are a couple of points that I would like to know about the LCH.
1. The first prototype has not even flown and yet HAL has firm orders. Are they that sure of achieving the specs required??
Ofcourse. They have already tested most of the technologies including new Shakti engine, weapon system etc via weaponized ALH. Also there are many subsystems common in ALH and LCH.
Firm order for a dedicated project not only increases the confidence of the developed but also helps to reduce production and development cost and increased productivity. IA and IAF are the primary users, so without firm orders from them it will be difficult for HAL to invest and develop a product.
2. Why are both Army and the Air-Force buying it? Is it because of separate roles? Or is it related to deployment areas? Say, Army on the western front and IAF on the eastern? Or something else?
As of now this work was done by IAF but now IA wants separate ar wing for them. I think that will be good for both IAF and IA because it will lead to better coordination for the army and reduce burden for the air force. No, there is nothing like eastern or western front. I think IAF should hand over this job to the IA. Logic behind IAF’s retain is to defend air bases, commanding entire air wings and CAS, while IA wants them for anti-armor/air, CAS, better attacking formation and faster response without seeking IAF’s help.
