Ooops!! I do not know why they (some of the senior scientists specially) are always so open about top secret project. They already put the wing tunnel of the MCA in a public exhibition and now we can see it’s 3D model and every design and features in details!!! After four years of induction people still have very little knowledge about F-22 and we even do not know how the PAK FA looks like!!!
Same goes for many other projects like ATV, DEW etc…

8 oscars in 10 nominations with a staute designed by american and modelled on mexican
so brave chance of american in mmrca ( just my view)jai hoooo
goonerkid:dev2:
ps : sorry ajai just answering nik and oscar fever is treated.
There are many many Indian movies that are based on almost same type of stories with much better acting and direction but they are in Hindi or any other regional languages. Above all SDM is not an Indian movie, its British.

Not bad for current LCA…
๐
I have seen a simulator for N-LCA which had a new cockpit with 3 large touch screens. Not sure whether it was for NLCA or LCA mk-2 or just a simulator!!!
Oh well what do ’em journalists know . He only said may ๐ and as did I.
Oh and swerve the INs MIg 29 Ks are getting Zhuk AE AESA. So I was right saying the radar was not just developed for the Mig 35 ๐
Is it correct/official??!! That will be very good news. ๐
Tejas is like an F404 powered MiG-21.
What about quad FBW flight control, AESA radar, advanced EW system, glass cockpit??!!! ๐ฎ
Actually the Tejas was envisaged for a much different role than it is now asked to fill. Otherwise it would have been in service in large numbers already.
But i guess the final product will be worth the wait ! Come along Tejas MK2 ๐
Exactly. IAF continuously changes its requirements!!! When ADA almost completed the development of current LCA they want a new engine!!! But why didn’t they asked for it when ADA started developing Kaveri after USA put embargo in 1998!!!
Now LCA have a complete unstable aerodynamic structure with quad redundant digital FBW flight control system, advanced glass cockpit with HOTAS and voice command, Mayavi next generation EW system jointly developed with Israel (for Israeli F-35 as well), AESA radar, FADEC engine and stealth features. That are quite good technologies, I think none of current IAF fighters do have all of them!
Nose cone and canopy look very similer to F-22 but the rest are completely new design. Above all they are not going to make another F-22 for IAF but something new…. ๐
Tejas and FC-1 are two different types of aircrafts for completely two different requirments. Tejas is going to add stealth, AESA, FADEC engine, advanced electronic warfare and quad FBW technologies for IAF. But FC-1 costs mush less, around $ 16 million.
^^ Scooter, the model is correct. I have seen this model at various official places. The following image is from official IN source…

All of the fighters on board the model seems to be NLCA , also note large AESA radars at the top of the cabin/TC.
Some interesting model/info pics from Aero India…

India’s indigenous N-sub secret is out
Mail Today Bureau
New Delhi, February 13, 2009
The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has added a feather to its cap. It is delivering on scheduleโ in 2009โ India’s first indigenously built nuclear powered submarine (SSBN) as it had promised at the beginning of the United Progressive Alliance’s (UPA) term in office.
The secret of the indigenous nuclear submarine programme seems to be finally out. Defence minister A. K. Antony has confirmed what was being speculated all this while – that the country is ready to launch the third arm of its nuclear triad.
India is getting a batch of submarine launched ballistic missiles (SLBM) and submarine- launched cruise missiles (SLCM), ready to wed with the SSBNs, which would presumably be nuclear tipped. This would, in turn, underline the deterrence posture of the nuclear weapons programme providing it a failsafe ‘second strike’ capability.
But this would also entail fundamental change in the country’s nuclear weapons policies for the peculiar nature of nuclear submarine deployment.
A nuclear submarine remains submerged underwater for most of its deployment period thus making communication difficult especially in times of a national emergency.
A nuclear submarine commander is therefore armed with a separate launch regimen that is qualitatively different from those used above ground.
Hence, when India launches its nuclear submarine, reportedly three, it would have to put in place launch codes that would provide a degree of autonomy to the commanders. This, in turn, would change the deployment pattern of at least a portion of the country’s nuclear forces to ‘ready arsenal’. This would require a political decision.
The Indian development is important in terms of the changing Chinese deployment by which they are modernising their nuclear submarine fleet, putting into waters the refurbished Xia class and a new Jin class.
The country had been working on the submarine, coyly termed Advanced Technology Vehicle (ATV) since 1985. The design is reportedly based on the old Charlie II- class submarine – a former Soviet make.
The programme was bedevilled with problems in developing a reactor suitable for the platform and then, building a containment vessel for the reactor. The attack submarine design is said to have a 4,000- ton displacement and a single- shaft, home- built nuclear power plant.
The estimated speed of the vessel is 12- 15 knots on surface, and 30- 34 knots submerged.
The reactor is of the pressurised water variety.
The nuclear submarine would beef up the country’s presence in the Indian Ocean.
It brings to fruition a programme that was kicked off under the leadership of the late Rajiv Gandhi who had leased a Charlie- class nuclear submarine that was renamed in 1988 as INS Chakra.
India to develop medium combat aircraft and UCAV
Bangalore, Feb 13: After the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) plans to develop a medium combat aircraft (MCA) with “stealth features” and an unmanned combat aircraft vehicle (UCAV).
The Aeronautics Development Agency (ADA) of the DRDO, which developed the LCA with the Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd, will develop the MCA with the Indian Air Force.
“We feel confident that after the LCA it will be the MCA and followed by the UCAV,” M. Natarajan, DRDO chief and scientific adviser to the defence minister, told reporters at the 7th edition of the international air show Aero India-2009 in Yelahanka, on the outskirts of this city.

The twin engine MCA will weigh 19-20 tonnes.
“It is possible to have an MCA with a twin engine, with less weight and improved electronics. It will also have an inbuilt weapon load for stealth reasons. It is doable and it is a challenge,” said Natarajan.
The DRDO is also planning a twin-seater trainer variant of the LCA, which for the first time performed manoeuvres at the air show.
“We will have an air force LCA, naval LCA and LCA twin seater trainer. Five to 10 years down the line, the role of the (LCA) trainers will be superior to the hawks (advanced jet trainers acquired from Britain),” Natarajan added.
The IAF has placed an order for 20 Tejas lightweight multi-role planes, India’s second indigenous fighter aircraft, and may increase the number to 40.

15 successful test firings yet its test fired for the first time?. Congratulations on maximum contradiction from a very small number of words.
LOL!! After so much of talking and news reports this test is still ‘another’ test of Brahmos Block-I ??!!! Really strange!!! Why cant you just accept that the test on Jan 20th was an upgraded version of current missile i.e. Block-II!! Above all Block-I version is already in service with the IA. Do you think they have accepted Brahmos without verifications??!! Also DRDO promised to solve the problem with in a month or two with further test, so how it is a major glitch???
I have a fundamental need for proof of something that Chinese, Russian, French, British and American seekers cant do through the limits of the technology but, according to some reports, Indian ones can. I don’t think that is an unjustifiable position. If you want to spin that as an attempt at anglo-supremacism on my part feel free to do so – its entirely your issue.
๐
haha!! That is the answer I needed!!! You need more ‘proof’…
If you do not want to accept the word of Brahmos/DRDO/Indian official, so what can I do?? If the tech was from British or Americans, we could easily digest it….
