    This was for AEGIS…..

They said They if we want can integrate AEGIS with present Brahmos and 2 other probably Barak 2 and Barak 1 systems.

Anyways go to lockheeds website, this is nothing new, AEGIS , P3C’s , LCS all are on offer.

I’d be really disappointed if I see barak 2’s range to be anything less than 200 kms.

or atleast the one with 100~140 kms and another version with another booster planned for 200 kms..

As it was quoted by DM in the Lok Sabha i think IN seriously consedering three systems are on offer and will get one of these onboard P-15A. I also not happy with 60-70KM Barak-2, when it will be inducted into the Navy in 2012 the western navies will have something with more than 200km range.

We should go for atleast 150km Barak-2/8 with a KKV technologies can be derived from naval version of Green Pine and the missile should be a development of Arrow-2/PAD with booster stage must be there for longer range as well as altitude.

It all depends on when the design for the P-17s was frozen and when they are expected by. The DRDO-IAI-IN Barak-II is still in development, and I dont think the IN wants to buy another system as an interim fit, and they would prefer to standardize on the Barak-II.

So, since the SA-11/17 is already in service, it becomes the de facto interim choice.

I am not too happy with the 70 km range of the Barak-II/LRSAM either. It definitely needed more range. Perhaps the 70km range refers to powered flight, but an extra booster should help it to engage missile launch platforms beyond their missile ranges.

    What about this one…………

US offers advanced missile system to Navy

    PTI
    Thursday, April 26, 2007 16:52 IST

NEW DELHI: The United States has offered India one of its most advanced ship-board missile defence systems, capable of tracking and neutralising up to 100 attacking missiles.

The equipment on offer, the Aegis ship-board missile system, has the potential of being integrated with country’s indegenious missiles like the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile and nuclear-capable Agni missiles.

“An American company made a presentation to the Indian Navy in November 2006,” Defence Minister AK Antony informed the Lok Sabha on Thursday.

“This presentation was made in respect of three ship-board missile systems,” he said in a written reply.

Though Antony did not name the systems on offer, top defence sources said the US had made a presentation on the Aegis missile system made by Lockheed Martin.

The Ageis can track over 100 missiles, including sea-skimming versions, with its supercomputers and engage them according to priority, depending on their velocity and height.

The system, according to Lockheed Martin, is designed for multi-pronged and simultaneous warfare to engage targets in the air, on sea, on the surface and also sub-surface. PTI

The sale of systems like the Ageis is governed by government-to-government deals under the Foreign Military Sales arrangement of the US administration.

Lockheed Martin apparently had got the Pentagon’s clearance to showcase the system to India.

So far, the Aegis has only been sold to close US allies like Spain, Japan, South Korea, Norway and Australia.

It is currently deployed on 69 American destroyers and cruisers.

Defence Minister Antony told the House that ‘no response has been given’ by the country to the US offer.

Referring to the BrahMos missile jointly developed by India and Russia, he said the system was already being produced for the navy and army. It would be inducted in the air force in 2009 after flight evaluations were completed.

    —————–

I think P-15A will get this new advanced missile defense combat system and the 2nd & 3rd P-17 will get Shtil-1 VLS, MDL chief said they have modified the P-17 extensively after INS Shivalik was launched.

I liked the LCS design and its sensor suite. India is in cooperation with SK to jointly develop of a 5000 ton ship, but they also heavily depends on US for various systems and sub-systems. eg KDX…

    Second try

in my opinion larger (~ 4500 ton, to carry more VLS) LCS from USA will be the best option for IN, we already got Talwar and also getting advanced version of this in future, so no more Russian ships.

or even smaller DDX will be better..as DN mentioned $ 8 bn for 7 ships…:D

DH-10, pak-china collaboration and babar have all been discussed and discussed again. Read back on the whole thread.

As far as “any country using pak against india” is concerned, India is one of the largest importers of arms in the world. Is india being used? Why is russia helping india build its cruise missile? Why is Russia helping india assemble flankers? What help did russia provide in india’s nuke program and continues to help india build nuclear reactors? To what end?

Point is, all countries gets help and provide help based on self interest. So no point focusing on china and pakistan alone. Thats the way it goes.

as far nuclear technology is concerned, a country only depends upon or get foreign technologies cant be a partner in ITER, they are not fool, they know what is the capabilities of partner countries. this is one example only…

i dont know how Russia comes in this discussion…they built some nuclear reactors for India as like US, Canada but what is the realtion of that with India’s nuke programmes….Do you know anything what you are talking about…just go to DAE,BARC,IIPR,TIFR websites, learn what they have developed, everything is public here….

and about russia “helping” india in Brahmos and Su-30, is it a back-door deal? or it voilates international rules??!! I dont have any question about JF-17. Brahmos is joint venture company of DRDO and NPO Mash, to jointly develop various versions of a supersonic cruise missile for army, navy and air force of both countries and for third countries.

But giving nuke and long range ballistic missile to a country which didnt even developed a bus engine indegenously (they do have long range ballistic missile but could not develop a SLV, why? because they cannot be used against India) In public, PRC giving every tech from ships(F-22P) to fighters (JF-17) with ToT but the other things……think yourself….anyway good strategy…..:D

UN! … MTCR! … go QQ some more

that wasnt my question, as babur can carry 500kg war head more than 500 km away and its a copy of DH-10 (which is completely developed and underproduction after first test!), then its completely violates the rules of MTCR. And i was asking about Pakistan’s industrial and technological background to develop such a missile specially the engine and hi-tech software its needed. So my Q was, “is any country using Pakistan against India giving her WMD and long range missiles voilating international rules ?”

Pakistan’s atomic, missile technology better than India’s, says Mubarakmand

ISLAMABAD: National Engineering and Scientific Commission (NESCOM) Chairman Dr Samar Mubarakmand said on Saturday that Pakistani scientists were achieving “milestones”, and the country’s atomic and missile technology was now better than India’s.

Mubarakmand was addressing a declamation contest organised by the Federal Directorate of Education to mark Pakistan Day celebrations here. He praised scientists and engineers for developing Pakistan’s nuclear and missile technology indigenously in a very short span of time.

“And the whole world looks towards us enviably, as we now have the most sophisticated and advanced missile technology,” he added. Mubarakmand said Pakistan had become the third cruise missile-capable country in the world after carrying out successful tests, and the country’s missile technology had made its defence “impregnable”.

He said Pakistan could not compete with the United States in atomic and missile technology, but “we are far ahead in the region, especially compared to India”.

He said that that six modern ‘excellence centres’ were currently working on technology-related projects. He said, “I can see a very bright and excellent future for Pakistan, as there is no shortage of talent and passion for hard work in the present lot of students.” app

Everyone will agree that Pakistan is much more advanced in atomic as well as misile technologies.

But sorry to mention some points…..

    1. Dont know why ITER didnt selected Pakistan rather than India as a partner in ITER.

    2. We make Tokamak, FBR, KALI but but Pakistan with their high tech atomic facilities could not make one.

    3. India make large space launch vehicles, SRE, Reusable launch vehicle(dev), semi-cryo,cryo,scramjet,ramjet engines, making fighters for nearly three decades but after that also Pakistan’s very first missiles (dont know from where they suddenly come) become with an edge.

Can anyone answer my question, which turbofan engine does Babur has? and for TERCOM/DSMAC, you first need satellite imaging of the entire area, where pakistan got it. Ever Pakistan developed a good software?? From where they got the sophisticated TERCOM/DSMAC guidance software for the missile??

I dont know why Pakistani official is very secretive about their indegenous missiles, look at India, in AI-07 they have shown details about most of the systems and which lab where developed it.

In Pakistan NESCOM+KRL evrything from nuke to cruise missile to ballistic missile everything developed by two labs but no details. Look at Pakistan’s industrial background in electronics & software front!!

Every missile is 100% successful and enter production without delay.

If they are not Pakistani then where is MTCR, where is international responsibilities, where is UN, Is any country using Pakistan against India???

Rajan that just looks like a dummy missile to me and that to a badly made one , Dont read too much into it

Austin i have read your article about multi-layer missile defence of India, that was very informative. Thanks.

Here in the above image, as it is from AI it may be a dummy missile but as it is show cased by DRDO they must doing something with it. Speciality of the image is multi-stage Prithvi missile, as we all know basic Prithvi-I/II/III all are single staged.

BTW in the CNN-IBN vid about PAD and AAD, (as you taken some pics from there) its shown that an missile engine under test with two way thrust (that is almost 90 degree separate) simultenously, is it the kinetic kill vehicle (KKV) ??
