Sorry but this ain’t true. It’s just some kind of Rafale simulator..

I am not sure whether it is PAK FA or not but Rafale’s canopy does not open like that!

So the first real pic of PAK FA (without speculation)!!! though it is just the canopy! Everything going like a thriller, revealing herself very slowly and steadily. 😎 After that we will see the front wheel, followed by left fin….

The ejection seat looks new and the canopy/cockpit area is large!

Calling Granit and Brahmos interchangeable is just that –> non-sense.

Than you have to learn the meaning of the word, ‘non-sense’. When you are asking questions one after another means you have to learn more about Brahmos but you are still making comments. Now that’s called non-sense.

Where did you get this idea? Really.

    😀

    Armament: 20 Granit (SS-N-19) (R: 450 n.m; S: 2,5 mach; w: c/nuclear)
2005: planned to be refitted wih new SS-NX-26 Oniks missiles

    Could I see the article?

Go through the early pages of this forum you will find it. The news first published in JMR than reported on other articles as well.

    Non-sense.

When you as question don’t call others nonsense. That means you have to know more about the matter.

Granit is a whole different weapon. It’s twice the size of the Brahmos. It has twice the range, twice the punch.

But still Russia replacing it with Oniks or Brahmos!!!!

I also know of no “special attack” pattern that the Brahmos can do.

    Does it have group-attack mode?

Brahmos has group attack mode. The news was from Jane’s. It was posted here in Keypub forum in 2005.

Source? The Mistral is an exception – and it isn’t as yet clear that the French will sell her to the Russians.

Who bother about French sell it or not! Main point is Russia wanted to buy it.

All the technologies you mention are there already – here’s the official extract:
The Granit is notable for its new qualitative characteristics. For the first time in the history of rocket production, they managed to design a long-range missile with an autonomous guidance system. Its on-board guidance system was based on a three-processor computer with the use of several information channels which allowed it to operate in a complex jammer environment and detect true targets against any background interference. This is the largest cruise missile in use by any military force, larger even than its predecessors. Most of its space is devoted to a very large fuel tank, allowing the missile to cruise up to 625 km at Mach 2.5. Upon attaining sufficient altitude, it engages its jet engine and accelerates to attack speed. Initial guidance system is inertial, with an active radar seeker for terminal homing. Just like the Bazalt, it uses a formation-flight profile, with one missile flying high to locate its targets and the others flying at medium altitude to evade radar. Should the lead missile be destroyed by enemy anti-missile missiles, another from the formation, chosen at random, takes up the lead. The designing and projecting of this system was carried out by the team of scientists and designers of Central Scientific Research Institute Granit headed by its General Director V.V. Pavlov, Hero of Socialist Labour, and the State Lenin Prize laureate.
From all the versions and alternative designs proposed the designers has chosen a turbojet engine as its cruise engine. Our scientists and designers were the first to have solved a complex engineering problem of engine start within a very short period of time when the missile goes from under the water. The potential for missiles maneuvering permitted to employ a rational formation mode and unique guidance mode when fired in swarm in order to choose the most advantageous flight path. One of them goes up and designates targets, the others – attack. The one that goes up does it in short pop-ups, so it makes it harder to intercept. It works like a network with datalink between each missile. Missiles are able to differentiate targets, detect groups and prioritize targets automatically using information gathered during flight and types of enemy ships and battle formations pre-programmed in their on-board computer, after that they attack highest priority-to-lowest: after destroying the first target, the missiles left are attacking next prioritized target. It should be emphasized that no earlier cruise missile system designed at NPO Mashinostroyenie was notable for concentration and successful implementation of such a number of scientific and technical innovations as the Granit was. The missile’s elaborate design required the conduction of a series of extensive ground tests in hydro-ponds, wind tunnels, heat-resistant test benches, etc.

These are old technologies. They are talking about older missiles than Granit, but Brahmos developed after two decades with new technologies.

If Russia had a missile like Granit why they need another missile Oniks? Which has shorter range? Which is more close to Brahmos than Granit? Because Granit is old and the technology with it is getting old. Granit need to be replaced with a modern missile like Oniks and Brahmos. Now the Oniks was the base of Brahmos. Here India contributed with technologies that made Brahmos better. India had many shortcomings but wrt certain technologies we had better systems. Brahmos is the result.

See above – the proof of the pudding will be if and when the Russians adopt it as well – until then all is speculation!

    [/QUOTE]

Russia will buy it…….. Mistral is just starting. Russian arms exporter/manufacturer already complained against Brahmos as it will grab there market. :dev2:

India secretly counters Chinese successful Anti Ballistsic Missile test

But India does not talk about its secret program that far exceeds Prthvi’s capabilities.

    Source

The AD-1 and AD-2 are no secret. India is developing ABM to destroy BM upto 250 km altitude and satellites upto 800 km. The ABM system includes multiple mini kill vehicles to counter MIRVs. As well as air-borne laser. So what secret left there?

Actually Rajan the Russians have not mounted the Brahmos on any of their platforms as of now.
There is a projected mounting on their new Gorshkov class frigates, but this is not confirmed as yet.

Actually I know Brahmos for Gorshkov not yet finalized but it will be. There are increased respect for Brahmos in Russia. Just recently Russia started thinking about buying a foreign ship, Mistral. Its just beginning… 🙂

The Russians have a longer range missile, Granit, which could not be used as the basis for Brahmos (the shorter ranged – sub 300kms, Oniks was used instead) because of MTCR considerations, They could just as easily modify Granit to create an even more potent weapon.

Granit has longer range but that doesn’t make it more capable or high tech than Brahmos. Due to presence of combination of technologies in Brahmos, those makes it better are SCAN, artificial intelligence, variable flight path. All of these with speed like Oniks and close to that of Granit makes Brahmos more capable. F-16 is a fighter, F-35 is also a fighter but there are differences.

So I would take the view that Brahmos was developed more for our use than theirs – but I’m happy to listen to a dissenting view if you have a source to contradict that view.

I have specified why Brahmos should be better. Now it will be pleasure to know little bit about Oniks or Granit’s capabilities that surpluses Brahmos.

ISRO plans special launch pad at Sriharikotta

    First Published : 10 Jan 2010 03:00:00 AM IST

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The third launch pad planned at ISRO’s Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota, is going to be something special.

While it will meet the space agency’s needs for the 2015 Human Space Flight Mission, the launch pad is also being designed to accommodate the proposed Reusable Launch Vehicle (RLV), India’s dream space shuttle which is on the designing board, ISRO officials said.

‘’The preliminary design for the third launch pad is complete. It will be able to take care of all future programmes of the ISRO, including the Human Space Flight Mission and the Reusable Launch Vehicle,’’ officials said.

ISRO has also started designing a landing strip for the Reusable Launch Vehicle at the Sriharikota Range.

The third pad is coming up one kilometre south of the spaceport’s second pad, which was used to lift off the PSLV-XL rocket bearing the Chandrayaan-I mission in 2008. It is expected to be completed by 2015, coinciding with the Human Space Flight Mission for which the GSLV rocket is to be used.

‘’Since human beings are to be sent to space, the new pad is specially designed.

It will have facilities such as a Crew Escape Module which could come handy in an emergency during the launch,’’ sources said.

An Reusable Launch Vehicle is expected to save the space agency massively in mission costs.

Today, each kilogram of the payload costs around $ 12,000 to be placed in space.

Three launch pads will also enhance ISRO’s capability for multiple launches with the space agency’s annual number of launches on the rise.

India makes a missile that too as a JV with Russians and now Brahmos is world beating missile that even the Russians cant compare against? seriously?

Seriously! Can you prove that Russia have a better missile than Brahmos in its class? 😉 Russia came for JV because they understood Indian capabilities more than you and me. Thats why they want more JVs. If Russia didn’t came for Brahmos than India had to buy from Russia itself.

Why do you think that Indian Air Force is going for Indian systems onboard FGFA instead of simple Russian? that is too a JV? seriously?

    Off topic —But still

I always love this Brahmos video.:D

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2HDVhX7PZHg&feature=related

Cool! Russians must be fool that they came to India with a ‘lower grade missile’ and now India stopped buying Russian missiles!! Still they are going for more JVs…. IRTA, R-172, FGFA….

Hypersonic Brahmos must be part of PAK FA/FGFA weapon inventory. 😀

    Brahmos

May be Russian requirements are simply different than from those of India’s, and this is why they have gone their own ways???

USSR/Russia had a ‘commitment’ that they will never use even a single nut-bolt from any other country in their armed forces. Thanks to Brahmos Aerospace they have changed their mind. Now they want India to be partner in military transport aircraft to fifth generation fighter. Its not like Russia don’t have money to develop them in their own. Oil price making new records every year! 😉

Seekers are not used to hunt down targets on the ground, what can i tell you..

The people talking about Brahmos are the scientists themselves. They proved it in front of Indian Army and the Army accepted the missile.

The seeker is there to hunt down ships
Against ground targets GPS-inertial computers are used
    The altimeter could be different

Is more/less what happened with the tomahawk, it did not have any seeker, then for multirol tasks they fit a seeker (anti ship)

Brahmos is not Tomahawk. Two are totally different missiles. Brahmos land attack version have a seeker along with GPS/inertial. If GPS don’t work than also the SCAN allows it to hit the right target “which may be insignificant in terms of size, in a cluster of large buildings.” I guess the technology has something to do with SAR imaging.

What better seeker? GPS guidance against fixed targets?

Both missiles are primary anti ship, i don’t know if the russians felt the need to fit the GPS guidance.

For their primary mission, how do you know the brahmos seeker is better?, no, you don’t know.

A new multi-spectral seeker recently been developed by DRDO for the Brahmos Block-II. It can hit targets which are insignificant in terms of size in a cluster of large buildings. The system also provides a video feed to the missile control centre to ensure precision in guidance.

No, russians are not bothered to buy brahmos, because they think their missiles are superior.

First of all there is no missile in Russia’s inventory which is superior to Brahmos in its class/range. Only the Brahmos Hypersonic underdevelopment in India will be better than Brahmos. Russia already committed to fit Brahmos on board updated Gorshkov class. At least six countries shown interest to buy Brahmos. India is setting up second Brahmos manufacturing hub to catch up with increased order.
