point out that post, please. RpR is a dedicated god-botherer and anything that says different is likely to be someone making a mistake.

Oooops, mistook another poster’s name, spec savers moment there, retraction RpR is definitely not atheist.
The similarity is only there if one ignores reality and wants to pretend it was there.
Christians cannot use the Bible to attack anyone not threatening their life, there is nothing in there to back up such a stance.
There are verses in the Koran to justify them attacking any religion but there own.The Catholic Church did not use its faith to gain power, it did it the way any political power would and having been the only truly accepted religion of the Roman Empire, which was the act of the emperor not the church, was that tactic but that has nothing to do with the dogma of Christianity.
The Bible as long been used as an excuse for all manner of barbarity, religious factions within Christianity have spent many years fighting amongst themselves and anyone else who happened to get in the way, sounds mighty like the present stance from Islamic fanatics.
As far inter-religion war is concerned, you don’t need to look beyond this country for plenty of historical evidence.
At one time the word of the Catholic Church carried more weight than the power of Kings, Emperors, or any so called Christian state, the Catholic Church at that time would tolerate no opposition from anyone, transgressors would be dealt with in a totally ruthless manner, then of course as other Christian factions decided that they had tired of the rule from Rome, persecution and murder was returned in equal measure.
I suppose that not only are scientists mistaken and wrong, but also our history books must be wrong, strange that.
The Bible says God finds homosexuality to be an abomination, that is it.
It does not command or condone anyone to attack them, it actually says people with logs in there eyes are worried about those with specs in theirs; On the other hand the verses I pasted from the Koran above condone and command what is to be done.
Not the same or even similar, also the Baptist church you mention has been/is loudly condemned by all Christian denominations.
If one were to proclaim such insults about Mohammed one would be subject to a death sentence that is officially proper by Muslim dogma.
Boy are Muslim and Christian dogma alike, yeah sure.
The Bible indeed every “holy” book has been written by man, what we see now are remnants of ancient writings with not the slightest knowledge of their origins, man’s vanity is such that every word will be the authors interpretation of old stories, which in turn are a mix of folk lore, lies, fables, fantasy, rumour with possibly the odd nugget of truth, the theories of Von Danniken are just as valid and just as fictional.
Religion, just like humans, has good aspects and some pretty nasty ones as well, come on, the God of the Old Testament was a God of fear and retribution, in reality very much as most rulers were.
New slant on the Trojan horse, if we get round to invading Africa?
Just had a quiet chuckle reading back through this old thread, one thing I distinctly remember, don’t know if this was just a family thing or did others get this?
As a young growing lad with appetite to match, if I turned up between meals on the “verge of starvation” I would very often be presented with a slab of fruit cake between two slices of bread and butter to munch on, always did a good job of filling the hunger and staving off the “imminent collapse”.
Not my call.
Yes Jesus was a Jew, what they did to him was the last item they ever did as a nation that crapped on God.
If you read the Bible, God let them suffer their just rewards for a long, long, long time, this was just the last till the end of the world as we know it.
Reading through your stuff, you are just as bad as any other religion which is totally intolerant to the beliefs of others, glad that I at least don’t give a rat’s about any of it and am probably a damn sight more tolerant of various faiths than you are, end of.
I remember having to go to the local hardware store to get a gallon of paraffin for the convector heater, that stinky free standing heater with the wick that always needed trimming …. I think it was 2/6d , b…..dy heavy that gallon can cutting into your hand.
Sometimes had to get a bag of anthracite???? or was it coke…..what was this stuff?
Coke was the stuff left over after gas had been extracted from coal, anthracite is a very hard coal, burns hot and slow with very little or no smoke, the best available came from the Welsh coal mines, in the day.
Wonder how many have gone out there and found that their “holy war” isn’t quite as holy or one sided as they perhaps thought, discovering that this isn’t play station and that there are a good number who don’t subscribe to their beliefs and fight back.
Have no experience of Bengal cats, but our last cat was a very large neutered male Maine Coon, he was a large example of a large breed and yes as some have mentioned can be very energetic, fortunately he was a good cat to have around and didn’t attack furniture etc apart from a large sheepskin rug which he would beat into submission at least once a day.
A similarity between the two breeds has been mentioned, if that is the case from my experience welcome the cat in to your home, our Maine Coon was the most affectionate and friendly cat we have ever had, in some respects almost dog like in wanting to play and attention, at times daft as a brush and certainly always made his presence known.
We lost him to a cancer 5 years ago aged 21, sadly missed but not forgotten.
The whole mix will certainly play into UKIP’s hands at Rochester and Strood.
Not a fan of Cameron or the Tories, but this doesn’t help in the battle to keep the UKIP “NO POLICY” pack under control and out of parliament.
Wokka Bob
Have never owned or been owned by a Bengal, but certainly agree totally with your description of a Maine Coon, to be fair never saw him involved in fisticuffs with any other felines, most just took one look and decided to be elsewhere, however one or two dogs got quite a surprise if they came too close , but that was only when some daft dog owner allowed their dog to wander into gardens etc.
He liked being around people and was amazingly tolerant of children, never ever scratched or bit a child, would just wander off if attention got too much.
The worst thing I can say about him is he followed the edict that “dogs have owners, cats have staff” to the letter.
I agree with Alan and particularly the penultimate paragraph. Secrecy for the sake of secrecy has always suited the state.
So true, many moons ago I worked for a company producing (among other things) high pressure hose, among our customers were Rolls Royce and MOD, at times with them situations became farcical.
For instance an order came in via MOD, but destined for the aero engine division of Rolls Royce, officialdom declared that this hose must only be produced on our test machine situated in the laboratory and under supervision of ministry inspectors, this immediately blew any secrecy straight out the window merely by drawing attention to the order, even better it was also very quickly realised that ministry inspectors and lab technicians didn’t have a clue how to actually run a production machine, the order then landed on my desk followed by many worried officials concerned that this order didn’t become public knowledge, the utterly stupid side was that the pipe was exactly the same spec as regular orders and could quite simply have gone through production without anyone batting an eye at it, but of course this pipe was destined for a new military jet engine which in itself was still secret.
Baz – I agree with your last point but not your first. After all the Dutch managed to anticipate the likely increased payment and planned accordingly. I rather think it is Treasury ineptitude not EU ineptitude and I say that as a Eurosceptic, as my various posts clearly illustrate.
I too am outraged but by the budget increase and that’s the battle Cameron should be fighting and for which he might find some allies.
The sorry saga is looking worse, it appears that this revision was known about in January, by March all countries had submitted their revised figures for their individual economies, at this stage treasury departments of all countries could and certainly should have been aware of the effects of this revision, this is when any negotiation and wrangling should have gone on, but it would appear that our Treasury and Ministers sat back contemplating their navels naively hoping that it would all just go away.
I like most, am not happy with retrospective accounting, but to plead surprise is looking more and more suspect.
I steered well clear of that, having heard his incoherent spoutings elsewhere but as an apologist for crumbling Labour the Tories absolutely adore him!!:D But the media are in thrall so you can expect much more of his “brand” of political bilge in the weeks to come.:D
You got that right, the guy would be of far more value to Labour if he joined the Tories, or even UKIP.
I would have thought that it was a legal requirement to quote interest rates so that a direct comparison between lenders could be made?
Must agree with that, you know of course that you are now facing calling a dreaded call centre and attempting to discuss with someone whose command of English isn’t great, and who will explain to you at great length what he/she can see on their screen, which surprisingly is exactly what you can see yourself. Good luck
