Not a fan of May by any stretch, but who would you have leading our government?

Not sure if it’s malevolence or sarcastic laughter, with Boris sticking his boots in at frequent intervals.

There is clearly a movement for Catalan independence, how popular or widespread this is I have no idea, but I do feel that the Spanish government handled the whole affair badly indeed, surely speaking to the people is the right way, if that means going for a referendum so be it, remember we still have the question of Scottish independence festering, however the people of Scotland were given the opportunity to vote and turned it down, who knows what a democratic vote would produce in Spain, sending in riot squads and militia will probably produce more clamour for independence than a rational campaign followed by a free vote.

The EU will obviously not be in favour, just as they weren’t in favour of possible Scottish independence, but the EU did not send in riot squads.

The latest mass murder in America is so sad, but face a few facts, whatever the gun lobby says, guns are designed to kill, they have no other purpose, any country which allows Mr Joe Average to legally buy and own an arsenal of weapons such as Paddock had, will have a gun problem.

Your last point I would agree with, but our police do not allow private security to take an active role on the streets, perhaps these celebs should pay the police?

You will also notice that this young lady has suffered abuse from alleged supporters of other political parties, it is totally wrong, but sadly in our world today it would appear that personal abuse and threats are part and parcel of any form of public life, particularly from behind keyboards.

She has been accused of bias, however providing she reports facts, no-one can really complain.

Not point scoring or even trying to do, merely pointing out that if there is a possibility of conduct arising which could give rise to anti-social or even criminal activity, the police will, where possible be on hand to prevent or diffuse the situation, in reality I think it is a sad reflection on society that this level of protection is felt necessary, of course as far as government is concerned or indeed any large gathering, this will become a target for terrorists.

You will notice that criminals guilty of particularly evil crimes also get police protection as they enter or leave courts, don’t approve of their protection, but do realise that walking these people out to a hostile crowd would certainly create a difficult situation.

Possibly your complaint is when those receiving cover from the police are so called “celebrities”.

We are in total agreement on that score. make a Labour voter of you yet;)

Incidentally you referred to use of police resources escorting or guarding the not particularly worthy, saw the preparations for the Tory Party conference in Manchester, 1,000 police on duty providing security, entire area caged in, airport style scanning equipment, to actually get in you must have 6 months Tory party membership, be approved by GMP, will need photo ID on the day, ie passport or/and driving licence, not exactly the party of the people.

Capitalists don’t really like “free markets” or competition, what they want are closed deals, cartels, guaranteed returns and as much access to public finances as possible, the capitalist mind set does not crave competition or a level playing field, it’s only thought is self profit, no concern for how that is achieved.

A warning for all those who think we will be able to trade on equal terms with the rest of the world.

Surely any “newspaper” of any description would make a few basic checks before splashing lurid and totally false headlines all over the place, must be quiet skies over Penzance, where I live we under one major air corridor, the planes (all commercial) are at altitude and no problem, but with recognition skills like that we would have QRAs every 20 minutes or so at peak times.

    Bradburger,

Certainly Blair was an EU enthusiast, but as to wanting to undermine and destroy Britain, he doesn’t come close to the Tories who will sell us off piecemeal to anyone, who will place government contracts with foreign companies when those contracts could and should be filled by UK or UK based companies, I am not in favour of a Federal Europe, but even less in favour of a UK where every damn thing is owned and run for and by foreign investors, which seems to be the aim of the Tories.

Agree the build materials had changed from WW1, but any one building WW1 aircraft would have recognised the build methods used on the Hurricane, whereas the Spitfire build would have been utterly alien, remember the Hurricane particularly the early models were still fabric clad over a predominantly wood frame, exactly as earlier aircraft had been built.
