Certainly we can’t sustain the present world population without intensive methods, the tree huggers would have us believe that we can dispense with our use of fossil fuels and all live happily in some sort of ecological nirvana, as things stand we simply can’t.
The real problem is that there are too damn many of us, we have overrun almost every corner of our planet, we need a reduction in world population of at least 50%, now I can just see the queue forming for voluntary reduction, not.
UKIP like it or not are a one trick pony, the sort of stuff they are spouting as “policy” is just not feasible or affordable.
For starters, rebuild our navy, the current gang are busily scrapping equipment we already have but claim we can’t afford to operate it, yet UKIP blabber on about rebuilding our navy and reclaiming Britain’s position as a naval power, nice dream.
One level tax, so the cleaning lady pays the same rate of tax as the multi-millionaire, sounds very fair that, NHS little change, but hand control to local organisations, the post code lottery regarding health instantly gets worse than it is now.
Like many I was happy with trading agreements with Europe, but don’t remember voting for unelected bureaucrats to become rule and law makers for our country, to have our own courts overruled by a European Court, but just stepping out is not that simple.

If Gove wins this battle in the long campaign ahead there is a chance that our education system might recover the respect in which it was once held.
If Gove gets his way education will be poorer for it for many pupils, I was a Grammar School boy 11 plus and all that, one teacher in particular would tell us frequently that simply learning facts and figures only proved that we were capable of learning, the most important achievement for this school was to send out pupils with the ability to think for themselves, to learn of their own volition the things that were important, to be able to form their own opinions from the information available, not remembering a string of historical dates or such parroted learning, yes we had to pass exams but do exams as such always tell the whole story?

That would be the logical conclusion charlie but I have heard a couple of rumours that the coverage is not as good…I just wondered if anybody on here has actually used their network !
rgds baz
My wife had a phone on their network, coverage was abysmal, ironically one place you could never get a signal was in one of their larger local stores, but this was some years back as to present situation, sorry cant really help.

Why does anybody who doesn’t spit and hiss out the name ‘Thatcher!’ suddenly have to be a ‘Thatcher lover’?
There are plenty who couldn’t care less about Thatcher from the moment her own party kicked her out the door, what we detest is this fake glorification of Thatcher as some sort of icon.
She isn’t and she wasn’t, she was no more than an ex-politician who eventually failed, so why the lauding of just another politician.
I would most certainly be just as opposed to any charade when eventually any other ex PMs go to their maker, whatever their political affiliation.
You are obviously correct in that policies and actions are far more important even than the current leader at the time, please explain to me the beatification of Thatcher who you must surely concede had just as many if not more enemies than friends.

If it had been 13.6 million why do you think i would accept it?
If they hadn’t made such a big thing of the funeral ceremony then they wouldn’t have needed so many police would they.
I would sugest Thatcher lovers take a closer look at the actual costs before any self satisfied crowing, evidently the funeral service etc has been paid by the family, however the costs of recalling parliament, the costs of troop involvement is not included and I have no doubt whatsoever that there will be plenty of hidden costs on the side.
Cost aside the whole thing was an uneccesary largely unwanted charade, done only for the glorification of the most divisive politician in recent history, but for me the sooner the whole damn pantomime is forgotten the better, every reminder of Thatcher is another one too many.

The punishment needs to be considered degrading & humiliating to Islamic radicals to have a chance at deterrence.
Put out that all Muslim terrorists will be fed to wild pigs, becoming a pile of pig s”t rather than sitting at the right hand of Allah may concentrate a few minds, possibly a tad medieval, but in keeping.

I wonder if anyone else here ever gets those “what if” moments where they wonder what
would happen if aircraft appeared out of their period in time. One I sometimes consider, is if the RAF or USAAF had had a couple of squadrons of A-10s available on the
breakout from the Normandy beachhead.Another is being at an airshow at Duxford, when all of a sudden a squadron of Hurricanes appear through the clouds
and land in front of the assembled spectators. This is probably inspired by an episode of the Twilight Zone, where a
WWI aircraft landed at a modern day airfield.
You are not alone!!!!!. must admit did have daft thoughts about the Pacific war if the Japanese had run into the present day US 6th Fleet, slighty different encounter and a much quicker resolution.
