Re 79

You’ve been drinking at the fount of wishful thinking !

Why would I want to go to my local draughty, litter ridden, dog turd encrusted piece of shingle wasteland, euphemistically known as a beach, when I can be entertained, in the comfort of my book lined study, here at Rangoon Towers on the North bank of the Showwaddywaddy River, by the left wing clap trap often featured on this Forum – yes, you know who you are !

What’s wrong with left wing clap trap?, just as good as right wing clap trap – yes you know who you are.

The Libyans may find an F111 as a gate guard a little trying, but a war memorial is just that and stays put and in view.

, the only ones who appear to have issues are the lefties,.

If any one wants to play the “being offended game” I find comments like that considerably worse, certainly as regards this forum I am very much to the left, in fact in some minds nothing short of rabid communism, however as regards Clarkson I don’t give the leavings of a flying rat’s a##e what he said, is he so important that his words of wisdom carry some weight?, no, is the comment so important? no.

In all probability he knew full well what he said or didn’t say as the case may be, clearly not intended to be broadcast, which only leaves the fact that he is an unthinking idiot to naively believe that anything recorded in any way will remain secret and yes I remember the old rhyme, have probably used it as a child without the slightest thought of causing offence or to racist connotations behind it.

About the only way some of these mobile idiots would be to make a hand held mobile self destruct if used in a car with the ignition on, can’t see that happening somehow.

The worst example I have personally seen, was in a car park, young lad so engrossed in that ultra important, must respond text, didn’t notice that his car was slowly rolling and gaining speed on a downward slope, caused much merriment when it ran into a bollard, no-one hurt but the damage to the car was surprising, would love to have seen his insurance claim form.

Why is it arrogant? Is it any more arrogant than you wanting to ban something that most others don’t have a problem with?

I think you may find that there is considerable opposition to the use of phones while driving, amongst drivers.

It is very rare indeed for the vast majority of us to be in a position where that call must be answered right here, right now, in fact beyond emergency/essential services I can’t think of any one else. Of course the mobile is a handy tool, but it’s for my convenience not to have me locked in to constant communication as in 1984, or twitching like a Pavlovian dog whenever it rings.

When I was working one manager got a little stroppy when I didn’t answer his call instantly, my reaction was simple I enquired as to would he take care of my wife and kids when I ram another vehicle on the motorway, the answer not surprisingly was no, in that case I will drive to the best of my ability to avoid an accident and your phone call will be answered when it is safe and convenient to do so, fortunately the boss backed me up and to add insult to injury shortly afterwards I took a promotion within the company and moved on and on until I was actually the aforementioned manager’s boss, he left shortly after and no I didn’t hassle him.

Always thought the idea of sandals was to let some cool fresh air around overheated “tootsies”, so why wear socks as well?

Mind you saw one guy the other day looked like a refugee from the days of Empire, shorts just above the knee, socks just below the knee, finished off with sandals and a shirt with tie, possibly an extra from “It Ain’t Half Hot Mum” who having heard about the possible remake of “Dad’s Army” is hoping for another remake.

Tests have shown hands free phones to be almost as distracting as hand held phones, comparison with changing radio stations etc doesn’t come into the same league since the majority of cars today have controls placed in a much higher position to avoid the need to look down, granted anyone who starts fiddling with CDs is just as much a menace but usually for a shorter period than a phone call, when it comes to texting while driving, that is every bit as dangerous as driving under the influence or possibly more so.

Mobile phones are a tool of convenience, or should be, but the way so many are totally driven by the damn things is a worry, today a bloke (not a teenager) wandered across the road phone glued to his ear, totally oblivious that traffic was heading his way.

It is all too common, but not surprising when I heard one “lady” presumably the mother of the child who got this message at full volume, went like this ” get in the f#####g car you stupid little b#####d” no idea what the child did to incurr this sort of wrath, but a superb example to set, not.

Agree Charlie, not acceptable, probably following Philip Hammond’s lead who has racked up £42,766 using the Royal Flight as a taxi service.

What is with this country, as soon as so many achieve a high level position it’s fill your boots time?, yet they are all very good at lecturing the rest of us as to how times are hard and we must cut back etc.

This academic has a percieved equality battle going on in her head, reading the report it comes across as more a concern that she is somehow ranked lower than her male colleagues, not a concern for pupils, basically has shown herself as unfit to teach.

On BBC North West News watched a nice shiny new UKIP councillor being interviewed, his response to ” what policies he brought to the council” resulted in a lengthy silence, a couple of false starts then finally “we want to bring a level playing field to local politics” I hope those who elected him found him as funny as I did.

Frankly he gave the impression of someone who shouldn’t be allowed out unescorted.

I’m surprised that the police don’t want to know, illegal money lenders are as it says illegal.

However she can report this gang anonymously try [ reportaloanshark@stoploansharks.gov.uk]

This is a government agency specifically set up to deal with these gangsters
