That’s a few years down the line, for me I found I found that those models would fly if you kept to no more than the water spray and clear dope to tighten the covering, but if you went the full hog with painting it soon became too heavy and hard “landings” became the norm.
Possibly showing my age here, but my main passion was building the Keil Kraft models, usually the “flying” scale models, the rubber powered, balsa wood and tissue paper aircraft, spent hours building, flying and wrecking them.
Swear I spent most of the time “high” on the fumes from that balsa cement.
The kits cost buttons in those days and provided hours of playtime.

Having had both dogs and cats separately and at the same time, cats have the edge every time.
Within a domestic situation no matter what breed of dog or how apparently tough, the cat invariably finishes up boss.
To those who say you can train a dog to do all manner of things, while you can only train a cat to do what is agreeable to the cat, for me that proves the superior intelligence of the cat.

I have to admit that this whole thing does concern me, and I’m sure most of us. Im 52 yrs young, and within the last 2 years I have sustained significant vision loss, courtesy of a stroke, and have what I now know to be a debilitating and progressive back problem. I’m now not able work, due to a combination of the problems I’ve already mentioned. I’m looking at trying to put together some kind of health insurance, but as has been said already, they don’t want to know if there are previous health conditions. Whilst I was employed in aviation, I had a very good BUPA policy thru them, but of course, that has now gone, along with most of my savings. This is a good lesson to all, that we never know what’s around the corner, and how it can turn your world upside down. I’m very aware there are very many worse of than. Hindsight shows, that for many years, we have not paid enough into ‘the kitty’ to ensure the continuation of the NHS as we know it. The consequences of this underinvestmen by most of us, I guess was always going to come, and now it has.
This caring, sharing compassionate government will book you an appointment with ATOS, these people are miracle workers one visit to them and most people are fit to return to work.
There is massive waste in the NHS, most of it seems to being creamed off by outside contractors, abysmal management and yet the cut backs are all those who work, I find it truly amazing that you can look back to the days when Matrons ran the wards, a pretty fearsome bunch at times and nobody messed with those ladies, wards were cleaned , patients cared for, they didn’t need an army of managers and assorted underlings (many without medical knowledge) to run the place efficiently. For me the present system is a model of inefficiency run by bean counters who as usual know the cost of everything and the value of nothing, the people who save a couple of pound now, but never realise that it will cost them double or more to recover a situation created by them.

If my Dad was alive today, he’d be 108. Go back only ten times that, and the Vikings were terrorising the north east coast of Scotland, and taking people away in chains as slaves.
I DEMAND COMPENSATION FROM THE NORWEGIAN AND DANISH GOVERNMENTS FOR WHAT THEY DID TO MY ANCESTORS!
We could have a right old session here, we have the Angles and the Saxons originating from Germany, then the Normans who nipped over from France for a bit of conquest, throw in the Romans next, mind you Italy is skinter than we are so probably not much joy there.
Anybody fancy explaining to the Yanks as to who actually owns their territory.
The Mau Mau were not exactly brave freedom fighters, they were a pretty uncompromising bunch themselves not above rape, torture and plain murder, but of course some lawyer ( in return for a big paycheck probably funded by us) will explain how these poor individuals were wilfully abused and denied all pretence of human rights.

So I bought one of these:diablo:
It cuts the grass really quick.
Er,…..any other Fergie owners on here?
Baz
(haven’t taken it off the trailer yet, still getting over the 750mile round trip)
First tractor I ever drove helping out on local farms as a kid, H&S would have a collective heart attack, 11 years old driving round the corn fields while the men loaded sheaves of corn on the trailer.
I see you have an upright exhaust, the really early ones had an under slung exhaust, really good working on a planter hitched behind one.

Stick it on Ebay as a rare Spitfire bit :diablo:
Someone would probably buy it as well. 😉
But sorry another vote for tractor hydraulics lever, looks like one from a “little grey Fergie”
The Hillsborough stadium in it’s entirety was the elephant in the room even more than the fences.
But the FA seem to have come away without much censure yet in reality should shoulder a fair bit of responsibility for their ground choice against the wishes and advice of others, plus whoever allocated the poorest end of the ground as far as accessibility is concerned, to the largest group of supporters should do some soul searching.
The situation was a disaster waiting to happen, but the police as deployed were certainly not in control, add in bad decisions from the senior police officers in charge.
Yes we can all be wise after the event, but in this case there were more than enough indicators regarding potential problems, all ignored.
The police are being held up as the sacrificial lamb and while their actions, particularly during and after the tragedy, were deplorable it is fair to say that others should be held to account.

I’m no royalist by any means, but for many on here, if your wife and/or children were relaxing in the privacy of a secluded garden, then someone popped up with a camera and started snapping away, I suspect that said photographer would have needed surgery to remove camera and lens.
In this case the peeping tom was too far away to be spotted leaving only recourse to law and I hope they jail the bar steward.
