Carpetbagger
I think if you care to read the report you will find that the story put out ref “drunken, ticket-less fans” forcing the gates, was actually part of the cover up and lies.
Yes there was crowd pressure around the entrance due to whichever empty headed idiot allocated that portion of an already inadequate ground to the largest number of spectators, the entrance and outdated turnstiles couldn’t cope and then the exit gates WERE OPENED BY THE POLICE.

For example, why was the game even held at Hillsborough?
That is one of the very uncomfortable questions that some would rather were never asked.
LFC objected to Hillsborough and particularly the Leppings Lane end on safety grounds.
Hillsborough’s safety certificate was limited and the football league limited capacity at the ground until safety improvements were carried out.
The FA selected the ground and told the clubs that they played there or dropped out.
Like many others, I know the police come out of this badly, but were did the cover up originate?. I don’t believe that individual coppers all set out to rewrite the story before it was even published, so where did the instruction come from?

Perhaps now we can let it rest ?
I found Cameron making an apology for Hillsborough, as tasteless as Blair’s
apology over the slave trade. It was a terrible tragedy there can be no denying, but the fans absolved of
any blame ?
The fans were guilty of attending a football match, end of.
The ground was wrong, crowd control non-existent, trying to pack the largest group of fans into the least accessible part of the ground, that was before the problem developed.
Certain media, senior police, politicians even the “justice” system conspire in one of the nastiest peace time “pass the buck and cover your a**e” exercises ever seen and you say let it rest.

Anyone having a bad day or feeling a little sorry for themselves, should read those reviews, I must confess to an admiration of just how expressive many of the comments are, how articulate so many can be even under duress.
They are also rib achingly funny.

Very true, no-one worries about money until it’s in short supply, no-one thinks about old age or the end when they’re young and full of life.
Like it or not none of us grow younger, this is not some depressive thought, personally I’m enjoying retirement, but I’m also aware that I have considerably fewer years left than I have already had, so make the best of what you have, enjoy what you can and the rest can take care of itself.

I do totally agree with your sentiments, however what is the answer?, we have the power of the vote which sadly seems to mean damned if you do, damned if you don’t.
We need a massive shift amongst the hierarchy in this country, all those with power and control are determined to retain it, the consequences and effects on the country and people are secondary in their eyes.
Can we bring changes by democratic means or will it need a revolt of some sort?

At least now you have an understanding of the phenomenal acceleration of a Lightning when after burners light up. :D:D

Ah, yes! If we could only keep the Tories out of office for, say, thirteen years or so…
…then the electorate would see how good things could be and they’d never vote ‘Tory’ ever again!
It’s a great pity that Tories did get back in again, I’m not going to say that Labour are or were perfect, but they were doing a much better job of handling a bank created recession than Camercon, Osborne and co.
Finances are tight, but there seems to plenty of money for Gove for instance to play his idealistic and very expensive games with schools.
Sadly our financial situation is ideal for Tories to attack their idealistic targets while hiding behind the need to economise.
Did you know that many of the public sector workers laid off as an economy are now being quietly re-employed because of staff shortages, I am definitely pleased to see people back in jobs, but which bird brained idiot of a minister pushed through all these job cuts, which were actually self defeating.
Clear evidence, last month political commentators were puzzled has to how unemployment figures had fallen, but productivity had also fallen, the question being asked were had the jobs come from?.
